Run For The Roses Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
I made this pie for my husband who is a chocolate chip cookie hound. He loved it! The only change I will make when I make it tomorrow for the Race is that I will substitute brown sugar for the granulated. A personal choice, as the granulated sugar alone seemed a bit lacking in "oomph". Otherwise, a luscious and decadent treat!

Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
Definitetly a crowd pleaser! This was a star at our latest BBQ. I will make Big Al's sauce again, and will make it in large quantities for giving away in the family gift baskets this Holiday Season. The only change I will make is for my personal use, and I would increase the cayenne or decrease the cinnamon. That's just personal preference...the sauce is PHENOMENAL as is.

Molasses Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
Very tasty, not too spicy...my "cookie hounds" (aka coworkers) loved them! Only thing I would change if I could is that I wish this cookie where thicker textured. The flavor itself is just right "as is".

Big Kev's Texas Style Long Island Iced Tea

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2009
We mixed this up for our first BBQ of the year. We had 4 guests coming to the party (and I don't drink much alcohol), so we multiplied the original measurements by 16, mixed all the booze beforehand and then added the cola just before serving. HUGE hit! Will definitely keep this one on file. :)

Easy Monster Cookies (Cookie Mix)

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2009
Unable to find a Monster Cookie recipe that wasn't too crispy or totally oatmeal based, I gave this recipe a go and it turned out great. This also does well as a base recipe...feel free to add in as many "optionals" as you like. I especially like to add chopped honey roasted peanuts or toffee peanuts. These cookies are great "mailers", too!

Gunline Coffee

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2009
Are you seeking a smooth, tasty mocha/coffee mix? SEEK NO MORE. :) I have made several batchs of Gunline Coffee for home use and for coworkers to enjoy on the job. Everyone enjoys it tremendously! Cinnamon or peppermint flavored creamers are a nice change of pace, but this yummy recipe can stand on its own "as is." Thank you CATWALK and to your husband! :)

Honey Oatmeal Bread II

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
The first yeast bread with which I have had successful results! After decades of failure, this one was the charm. My husband has asked me to make this bread from now on. This bread is moist, tender, and tasty. After the first batch, I started adding two cups of freshly ground whole wheat flour to the oatmeal "sponge" because we want to add more fiber to our diet. Either way, this recipe is a "keeper"!

Homemade Butter

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
I first made butter "accidentally" when I overwhipped heavy cream trying to make whipped cream with my KitchenAid. This time I made it "on purpose" following this recipe LOL. It turned out absolutely delicious, and I will make it often. I look forward to making fresh homemade butter for my holiday baking.

Scottish Shortbread III

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
This shortbread is delightful and delicious! The wonderfully rich and buttery flavor is a favorite among my family and friends who request it every year. I especially like the fact that this shortbread bar does not need to be rolled out, as my rolling pin skills are somewhat lacking LOL ;). This recipe is a genuine keeper!

Slow-Cooked German Short Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2008
I made this for a family dinner when my husband's side of the family was visiting for a wedding. I doubled it and used boneless pork and beef ribs. It was delicious and a huge hit! This was served with with lumpy mashed potatoes, and it disappeared! I will definitely make this again, especially if we have company.

Wisconsin Slow Cooker Brats

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2008
Delicious, simple, and a great basic recipe suitable for adjusting to your preferences! I have used Amber Bock and red onions and the brats were terrific...I have also used American lagers and yellow and white onions, and that turned out great as well. This is a keeper of a recipe!

Pup-Cakes

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
I made these for JunkYard, the mascot/guard dog at work, and he loved them! He just wandered into the yard one day and stayed, so we don't know how old he is, but he's definitely a senior and deserving of some spoiling. The extra nutrition doesn't hurt him, either.;) Finally, a treat that is good for him. This recipe is a keeper.

School Lunch Bagel Sandwich

This sandwich is now trucker approved as well!LOL I made this for my husband a few days ago. The veg crisper was full so I added a some bell pepper and tomato slices as well, and the bagelwich was ready to go. My husband actually called from the road to say how much he liked it! Thank you for posting this, VeggieLovinHippie!:)

Honey Peanut Granola

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
Absolutely delicious and dead easy... finally a plain but delightful granola recipe! I have made this twice so far, once as written and once without the nuts. Rave reviews from the "testers" both times. This recipe is a keeper, and this granola will be sent in "care packages" for the nieces and nephews at college. I'll just seal it up with the vacuum-sealing gadget.:)

Neat Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
We had a family gathering this past weekend, including 5 children, so I made this as written, just doubled. To solve the "chunk" issue I just whirled the celery and onion in the food processor.;) Everyone enjoyed these joes tremenously! This is definitely a recipe I'll make again.

English Tea Cakes

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2008
I too found this delightful recipe in Taste of Home magazine. I made a batch and took it to work to be tried by my "testers".;) These treats disappeared in no time flat! I've made them for each family special occasion since then and often take them to potlucks. Once in a blue moon I add a small bit of freshly grated nutmeg or a bit of mace (pound cake spice). Definitely add these to your keeper file!

Apple Butter with Honey

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
Very first batch of apple butter, and the recipe was just perfect (no white sugar), and so very easy to make. Apples fresh off our tree were used. Peeled and cored enough apples, then pressed enough juice to make the butter. This recipe made slightly more than 1 quart. The tree is done for the year so I'm eagerly waiting to use some locally-grown apples this Autumn and make more of this delicious apple butter for homemade gifts this Christmas season. Better than storebought and very simple! This is a keeper for sure and for certain.

Apple Pie Spice Mix

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
My favorite spice company discontinued their apple pie spice mix, and I was at a loss. Lo and behold, this spice mix is even better, fresher, and more flavorful! This is so good, I included it in the goodie baskets my husband and I gave this holiday season. The recipients loved it! One comment was "Now my pies taste like a bakery pie!" Thank you, RobertaJ!

Diabetic Dog Treats

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
These are terrific treats! I have made them as gifts for friends' "children" and "granddogs" and have made them as a means to bribe the guard dog at work into taking his medicine. Huge hit all around! Five "woofs"!
