Ask any of my friends that have known me a long time - I would have probably been voted as "Least Likely to become a Good Cook" back in high school. I've burnt soup, make a burnt, yet still undercooked brownie, and a chocolate pudding with chunks of cooked egg in it.
Yet with continued perseverence (and this amazing website!), I have slowly transformed into someone who not only loves to cook, but is actually half decent at it! The positive feedback and empty plates at my dinner parties now are a far cry from the sound of people trying to choke back my early creations back in the day. :)
My favorite things to cook
I love to make classic, comfort food. Roast chicken, pasta, stews, chocolate cake, all types of cookies...stuff that is a crowd-pleaser, yet easy to make.
I've taken some classes on more gourmet cooking, but find some of the recipes too time-consuming and using ingredients that I don't have lying around the house.
With the arrival of our first child, Greyson, I don't have a ton of time to plan and shop for each meal individually, so I like to make dishes that make use of ingredients I normally have around the house.
For entertaining, I've found some great recipes on this site that are simple to make, but look like you slaved over it all day. I'm trying the mini cheesecakes III recipe this weekend for an afternoon with the gals!
