About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook potatoe and chicken dishes,Cous cous is one of my all time favorites. the recipe was handed down to me from my Grandmother, who got it from our middle eastern neighbors. I have a very well rounded pallette :) I use a lot of French herbs, but I do love cajun spices and flavourful curries as well. I like to bake, whether it be a roll cake or a three tiered coconut cake. I like a challenge so I often try new things. I love food in general and am up to try anything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Anything French, anything my Grandmother used to make when I was little. From the buche de noel, coquille St. Jaques, Soupe a l'oseille, Crepes, Escalope a la creme, Paella from the south of France, Les beignets a l'abricot etc...
My cooking triumphs
I have a wonderful fried chicken recipe, and my cous cous is also pretty good. I also have a stuffed pork loin recipe that is out of this world delicious!
My cooking tragedies
I tried my hand at a Gallettes des Rois... Needless to say, it was very difficult and came out completely runny and not at all flaky:(

Soft Sugar Cookies IV
Very soft and good. They were a touch salty for my tatse so next time I'll just put 1/2 a tsp of salt instead of 1 tsp. I also put 1 3/4 vanilla extract and 1/4 tsp almond extract instead of the 2 tsp of vanilla just to switch up the flavor a bit and it made the cookies even better.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
These cookies are delicious and extremely soft. They stay soft for days and days too when kept in a container. I added some vanilla as suggested by other reviewers. If you follow the recipe and use common sense, you can't screw this up......

Sugar Cookie Icing
I followed the recipe to a T and the two teaspoons of milk wasn't NEARLY enough to make the 1 cup of powdered sugar "smooth". It was a clumpy mess, so I had to add more milk, and more corn syrup then stated. It never completely hardened. I don't understand why this recipe has such high reviews!
