About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Fast, or easy delicious dishes. Or really great dishes that worth the work, time, and effort. Mediocre dishes that take too much time is not gonna be my favorites.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hungarian dishes. Trying to fix them up here in the US... it is hard sometimes. Especially because my mom never used measurements O.o so there is nothing to follow, like it is.
My cooking triumphs
Oh, I usually follow the recipes given. But I've gone wild with the great cabbage rolls. Whee!
My cooking tragedies
German Potatoes with keilbasa, cooked in Slow cooker... the potatoes were crunchy, the keilbasa was overdone... Just horrible.

Cheddar Pear Pie
From the reviews I thought this is going to be an excellent pie, but it didn't live up to my hopes. This was my very first pie ever! I was confused as how big of a pie shell does this 6 cups of pears need. It'd have been easier for me. I've settled with 9" pie shell. It was probably a bad choice. I had 5 cups of pears after chopping, and it was full! I mean overflowing, the "crumbles" were heaping over the top. Oh, the crumbles! I don't know what was wrong, but I followed the recipe... and with a pastry blender I was cutting in the butter... it was a disaster! It didn't work out for me. The dry ingredients were too much and did not cling to the butter the next second it was a mush. I had to kind of scrape it in little bits on top of the pie. My husband loves it though. I think it is just average.

Lemon Pudding Cookies
These are so easy to make. I have found it though that it needs 1 or 2 Tablespoons of water mixed into the dough for lemon, chocolate, pistachio, coconut instant puddings. Butterscotch was the only flavor it didn't needed extra moisture for forming the little balls. I recommend the lemon and the coconut out of these flavors. And I have rolled the cookie dough balls in sugar before placing them on the cookie sheet, as some people found it bland.

Cheesy Macaroni and Beef Casserole with Thyme
It is good. We like it. I suggest to cover the casserole while baking, so the top does not become crispy. Thanks for sharing this recipe :-)
