Best Strawberry Daiquiri

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2009
this really is the best strawberry daiquiri! This was great. I only made half the recipe each time so it would fit in the blender. I probably used double the amount of strawberries and along with the sugar I added in some grenadine for extra sweetness. It really was great! I honestly couldnt taste any of the lemon lime soda in it, so if you dont have that ingredient it may be fine not to use it. This will be the way I make strawberry daiquiris from now on! No more of that nasty strawberry bottled mix. Thanks for the recipe!

Chicken Florentine Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
This was a great meal and really good! I used about 5 large chicken breasts and I doubled the sauce mixture. Instead of canned spinach, I used frozen, and only about 10 oz of it. Since we dont care for mushrooms, I added chopped onion in place of it, and sauteed them before making the sauce mixture. This came out real well and we really liked it. Im sure I will be making this again. Thanks for the recipe!

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
This chicken dish was excellent! It had lots of flavor from the balsamic! It was just great! I did like a lot of others and added half vinegar to half chicken broth. But after tasting it while it was simmering, I wanted more balsamic so I probably ended up putting in almost the whole amount that it calls for. The key is to use a good quality balsamic. So when your in the grocery, pay that little extra for a good bottle. I did saute in some garlic and only had two large chicken breasts. It actually was perfect with two. I wouldnt use more than four chicken breasts for this recipe because then you wouldnt have enough sauce. And we love the extra sauce! I served this with the pasta pomodoro recipe on this site. It paired excellent with this dish! It actually almost reminded me of a popular dish at fridays restaurant called chicken bruschetta. Great recipe, 5 stars, this is a favorite! Thanks for the recipe!

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
This recipe is DELICIOUS! I do have to say this was my first attempt and also the first time eating a sweet potato casserole and I was very pleased! I decided to make this for thanksgiving along with candied sweet potatoes that we have every year. I wanted something different, and Im glad I did! This recipe is going to have to be a staple every year now! I did double the topping mixture. While I was mixing it, it didnt turn into crumbles. It basically turned into a dough. But it still came out all sticky and carmelized on top and was delicious! I also only added 1 egg, doubled the cinnamon, added a little more vanilla, and used half brown and half white sugar in the potatoes. This was devoured and I will make this again and again. A favorite for sure! Thank you for the recipe! 10 stars!

Candied Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
OH MY! I have had candied sweet potatoes for years. But nothing like this recipe! I will never go back to any other recipe again. This was just excellent! I made this for thanksgiving this year and everyone devoured it! I think the main difference with the recipe versus others Ive had is the marshmallow sauce. It was what made it! A lot of others just have a runny thin sauce that just runs all over your plate and doesnt coat the sweet potatoes well. This sauce was nice and thick and coated the potatoes so well that it made it all come together as one! I went by the recipe exactly except I baked my sweet potatoes and I may have added about a cup more marshmallows! The more the better! Thanks for this great recipe! I will make again and again! 10 stars!

Chili Dog Casserole I

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
I made this last night and it was pretty good. This is the same ingredients that I use when making chili dogs, so its great to incorporate it into a casserole dish. Next time I will toast my buns first. They got a little soggy after baking. Also if you can get skyline brand(Cincinnati style) chili where you live, I highly recommend it for this. And dont use the canned, use the frozen, or make it yourself! The canned always leaves the chili with a tin flavor, yuck. Overall this was a super fast and easy meal. This can be very versatile by adding different ingredients to it. I think next time it would be good to add in some rotel tomatoes! Oh yeh, by the way, I added chili cheese fritos on top to give it some crunch. They made the whole recipe! I will make again for sure, thanks!

Fish Tacos with Honey-Cumin Cilantro Slaw and Chipotle Mayo

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
This was a very good fish taco. I loved the slaw on top of the fish! Okay I did do some things differently. I didnt use the breading, I had some cajun breading in a bag that I needed to use. So I used that and baked the fish instead of frying. Also I marinated the fish in the honey-cumin sauce instead of just the lime juice. I had extra honey-cumin sauce set to the side to brush on the fish after it came out of the oven. But I forgot all about it! So next time Im going to have to remember to do that. Also I only used a half of a chipotle in the mayo mixture, and half the adobo sauce. It was more than enough for the spice. I served mine on a flour tortilla with the fish, a little shredded cheese, tomatoes, and lots of crunchy slaw on top. By the way, I used broccoli slaw, yummy! This is a great fish taco, and Im sure Ill make it again. Thanks for the recipe!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
This was yummy! I didnt have wing sauce. So I used straight hot sauce with butter added to tone it down a bit. I used franks, its the best! I did add a little more seasoning to it to flavor it well. I cooked on low for an hour and high for 4 hours total. It was nice and spicy! I topped our sandwiches with some melted swiss cheese. This would also be great with some crunchy coleslaw on top. Very good and versatile. I will be making this again and next time using the franks wing sauce! Thanks for the recipe!

Grilled Fish Tacos with Chipotle-Lime Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
Yum this was a good fish taco! And was the first attempt at ever making one! Since its not grilling season here, I had to bake mine. I did lightly coat mine in a breading before baking to give it a little crunch. I only marinaded the fish 2-3 hours. I also cut back the chipotle in the dressing, and just added as much as I needed to get the heat level that I wanted. The dressing was pretty tasty. I only made half the amount. The full amount makes a lot and we would of had too much left over. I didnt have cabbage, so I had to use lettuce. Next time I will definitely use the cabbage for the crunch and dress it lightly with some dressing. Also I didnt have fresh cilantro, so I added dried to the dressing mixture to give it the flavor. I added the full amount of lime juice to the marinade, dressing, plus extra to squeeze over top. I love the lime flavor and the chipotle together! My husband actually really liked it also! Which he isnt much of a fish eater. Overall a great recipe! I will make again! Thanks!

Spinach Enchiladas

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
These enchiladas were just okay for us. I didnt get any type of review from my fiance, which meant he didnt like them. First off, the recipe needs more seasonings added. I added more to make the filling taste better. Second, instead of corn tortillas, it needs flour. The corn tortillas just didnt hold up well with this or taste right. I really think the flour tortillas would go better with this dish and be a better pairing with the spinach. If you change those two things, I think this could hold up to a 5 star rating. But as written I give it only 3 stars.

Ten Minute Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
This was just an okay enchilada sauce for me. I think I like the canned stuff better than this. It was a little bland for my tastes. I had to add a lot more seasonings to it and also some picante sauce to make it taste better. I did like the ease and how fast this was to make tho. But I prefer the red enchilada sauce recipe on the site over this. Thanks for the recipe.

Balsamic Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
I do have to say that this was some pretty good sauce! I was wanting to make a quick side dish and I remembered recently seeing this recipe. I decided to make it and throw over some pasta to have. It was great! I loved the flavor that it got from the balsamic. It was very nice! It had a nice texture, not to thin and not to thick. I do agree this would be great over lots of things...chicken, asparagus, even steak! For steak it would be good to reduce the cream in half, so it gets thicker, and to pour over top of them. YUM! Im going to have to try that next time. Thanks for the recipe!

Candied Garlic Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
these were pretty good. They came out nice and tangy/sweet and sticky. Upon reading others reviews, I added a couple tbs. of apple cider vinegar, a dash of srirachi and a little cayenne for some heat. Next time I make this I will make it with chicken legs. The sauce would be great on them! I didnt make a full 2 lbs of wings so I had a lot of extra sauce! It would be great over white rice! These almost taste like the japanese wings that are on the site that I love. Thanks for the recipe!

Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
mm mmm this is good. Im chowing down on one as I write this. I have never had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich other than just the regular way. I really like this way even better! The peanut butter just oozes out and is so creamy. I didnt have any jelly so I used some mixed fruit preserves on the other side. This would be delicious with strawberry jelly! As another reviewer said, this would also be awesome with marshmallow fluff! Ive gotta make this for the fiance, he's in love with peanut butter and jellys. Thanks for the recipe!

Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
LOVE LOVE LOVE this garlic butter! I slather it over some texas toast or french bread and bake it until nice and crispy. It gives the bread a nice flavor with the perfect amount of garlic! This is the go to recipe if your making homemade garlic bread!

Rebecca's Rockin' Vodka Lemonade

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
I also couldnt find raspberry lemonade, so I used the pink lemonade and added some raspberry syrup to flavor it. This was really good. My fiance watched me as I was making it and started saying "WHOA" at how much vodka I was pouring in lol. He thought it would be strong but I showed him that you couldnt even taste the alcohol in it. After drinking a glass I wanted a little more alcohol so I added some citrus vodka, amaretto, raspberry liqueur, and a touch of grenadine. It was great both ways! This is a great recipe when you want to make a big pitcher for a party or a few people. I had a couple glasses of it and it gave me a little bit of a buzz. Great girly drink that packs a punch!

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: May 29, 2009
This recipe is one of my favorites of all the chinese/asian chicken recipes that Ive made from here! This was sooo good and flavorful, and sweet, and had a nice kick with a little spice. I tossed the chicken in a little flour before sauteing. I also used Sirachi for the hot sauce, which is A LOT spicier than your ordinary hot sauce, so I just used a fourth of what it called for. I also doubled the sauce since I was serving over rice. I like mine saucey! I also added just a touch more honey to get more of a stickiness to the sauce. This was super fast and easy to make. Definitely a favorite for us and will be going into the regular meal rotation! Thanks for the recipe!

Steak on a Stick

Reviewed: May 14, 2009
DEEELICIOUS! I used sirloin and marinated it for 24 hours. Put them on some kabobs and grilled them up. The marinade went all thru out the steak and made them so flavorful and juicy! Next time Im going to add some crushed garlic and brown sugar to the marinade to sweeten it up. Like another reviewer said, this almost tastes like a menu item that a popular restaurant used to serve (fridays). I think if you add the brown sugar to make it sweet it will taste just like it! Great recipe, this is a favorite!

Barbie's Tuna Salad

Reviewed: May 5, 2009
This tuna salad is so easy and packed full of flavor! This has got to be one of my favorite ways to make tuna salad now. The only change is instead of onion flakes, I mince up fresh onion to put in mine. This recipe makes enough for two small sandwiches or one big sandwich. I definitely would make at least triple this recipe, because it will all be eatin up in no time!
