Chocolate Chip Bread I

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
This is the best loaf of bread my machine has produced thus far. Even following the manufacturer's recipes to a "T"; this bread came out looking like an actual loaf - not to mention tasting delicious. My machine has a "sweet bread" setting and the alarm to add any fruits/nuts/etc. was in the first knead, so I added my chips then, therefore my bread is chocolate brown throughout. Next time, I will set a timer and will add them in the second knead. The aroma, while baking, is fabulous. Try toasting this bread and having a peanut butter and jelly sandwich - really great.

Spool Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
Easy, not too sweet and fool-proof to make. The texture was great at an 8 minute bake, but bear in mind, every oven is different. Almond flavoring was substituted for the vanilla. I rolled them in regular white sugar as the recipe calls for as well as red and green sugars (separately). I'm sure one could add food coloring to the dough for variation. I think one could make these year round for various holidays or even for every day.

Pumpkin Muffins II

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
Made these muffins as written. I was concerned that the amount of flour and sugar would make them dense and sweet, but I am delighted with how they turned out. I might even add a bit more cloves next time for an extra 'oomph'. Nice and moist, this recipe made 24 standard muffins.

Beth's Peach-Nectarine Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
Tasty and moist muffins! I made them with 2 nectarines (no peaches) and added vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg as another reviewer suggested and I have to say these are outstanding! What a great way to use up fruit that is ripening faster than you can eat it. Fast and easy. Try them, you won't be sorry.

Pumpkin Yeast Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2008
This recipe made a very tall, light fluffy loaf in my bread machine that bakes 1-1/2 pound loaves. The pumpkin flavor is very subtle. Based on suggestions I melted the margarine in with the water. I'm very pleased with the results and my house smells wonderful!

Waffles I

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
Eh~ They're edible. Not the best I've tasted, not the worst. I followed the recipe exactly as written. My family and I found them tasteless. Maybe the addition of a flavored extract, cinnamon or fruit in the batter would improve this recipe, but I don't find it anything to write home about.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Another 5 stars for this recipe! As with many other reviewers, I decreased the salt and added vanilla. Very easily made with standard pantry ingredients and tasty too; you can't go wrong.

Slow Cooker Lentil and Ham Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2008
Pretty tasty! I had simmered a ham bone the day before and used the simmering liquid with some low sodium bullion in place of the chicken stock and cooked it in the crock pot on high for 5 hours. The ingredients are inexpensive so if you follow the recipe, you can't go wrong for a hearty, healthy and delicious soup. I'll definitely be making this again.

Pumpkin Bread IV

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
Who knew such an easy to assemble recipe could turn out so good? I scaled down the recipe to make one loaf and it was beautiful and moist. I'll rate five stars because it IS a nice bread, but personally, I like more spices. I've also made this with pureed acorn squash (hey, it was in the freezer!) and it was equally as good. Many people will be receiving a loaf of this tasty treat for the holidays this year and for years to come.

Venison Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
This recipe results in very hearty and tasty meal. I made it with ground water buffalo and substituted a reisling wine in lieu of red (its what I had on hand) and left out the cilantro (didn't have any) and it was still scrumptous. The vinegar gives it a good "tang" without it tasting like vinegar. Add some crusty bread and you have a great cold weather dinner.

Mom's Best Waffles

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2007
Just acquired a new/used waffle maker and had never made waffles before. This recipe is easy and tasty and they turned out light and fluffy. I gave 4 stars because although they tasted fine without it, I think some added flavoring would enhance them. I used almond extract for the last few of the batch. You could use whatever suits your taste. These waffles will show up on my kitchen table frequently from now on. YUM!

Cherry Pie IV

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2007
Four stars only because I used a different crust. I used very ripe pie cherries straight from the tree. The filling was spectacular - the gel amongst the cherries was like silk. Definitely a keeper recipe.

Soy-Sesame Dressing

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2007
Taking into consideration the other reviews of this dressing being too salty, I reduced the soy sauce to 2T (instead of the original 6T) and use 1/2T of powdered ginger instead of fresh. I keep the other measurements the same. Not salty and with a bit of tang, this soy-sesame dressing is now a staple in our kitchen - great on meats, salads, veggies and noodles.
