About this Cook
I was so excited when I got married a few years ago because I finally had someone to cook for! I loved being in the kitchen, but it was hard to get motivated to cook for just myself. Now I love cooking for my husband, and it helps that he loves to eat and has lots of praise for what I make him.
My favorite things to cook
New recipes! I love trying new things for dinner. Meals I go back to are my mom's beef stroganoff and Chinese salad, a great chili recipe I found in the newspaper, and stir-frys (my husband loves them). For baking, I make lots and lots of quick breads, especially banana bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was young, my Italian grandmother would drive each summer from her home in Pennsylvania to Minnesota to spend a week or two with my family. While she was with us, she would make 50 pans of lasagna and tons of stuffed shells, all of which we would pack in our deep-chest freezer in our basement. Over the next year, we would have one of those pans of lasagna once a week, until she came the next year. My parents and sisters and I all love to cook, so now whenever we are together, time in the kitchen and around the dinner table is very much enjoyed.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking dinner 7 days a week.

Mom's Zucchini Bread
I'm surprised this has such a good rating because no one follows the recipe! It calls for SO much sugar! I used 1/2 cup white and 1/2 cup brown and it was plenty sweet. I also only used 1/3 cup oil and added 2/3 cup applesauce. THEN it was perfect!!

Honey Mustard Dressing II
Yummy! Used it for dipping breaded chicken fingers, and it was great.
