Chantal's New York Cheesecake
Ok, so I followed this recipe to a T...except that I substituted light sour cream for regular. That's all I had. I was very excited about this recipe because of the fact it stated that there would be no cracks in the cheesecake. Well, mine did not have any cracks at all....it had the grand canyon on top!!! I was so disappointed. There were 2 inch deep cracks in the entire top. I wasn't sure what I was going to do. I made a sour cream, vanilla and cool whip topping and it looked perfect. It also tasted VERY good. Just a little disappointed about the grand canyon type cracks. I would try this again, but will use regular sour cream. Not sure if that was the problem of the cracks. Update...9/21/09. I tried this yet again and the grand canyon was still on top of my cheesecake. Followed the recipe but substituted an oreo crust. I have not tried this yet, but the crust smells very burnt. I am not at all sold on this recipe and think the issue is leaving in the hot oven for so long after it is done baking. This one just doesn't work for me. I will try another.
