About this Cook
I'm 23 years old and I live in Trinidad. My hobbies include baking of course;), breeding fishes and doing art. I also love comics. Recently I have come to love photographing the food I make. Too bad they don't all come out photo worthy, but at least they still taste good!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake and make desserts. It's just a passion of mine. I love to make desserts into individual servings, small batches or mini sized if it is possible. Although I love sweets so much, I am trying to expand my range a bit to the savoury side ;).
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad and I used to bar-b-que nearly every weekend but not so much anymore. It was good fun though.
My cooking triumphs
One of them was a soup recipe. We fondly named it Aloo Shark Soup (Aloo is potatoes.) It was a little experiment really and my dad liked it so much that he wanted it made again the next day! My most recent triumph is Buss-up Shut(Paratha Roti) If you look through my pictures you'll find a small description and link on how to make it for yourself!
My cooking tragedies
Definitely the first time I tried to bake cookies! They came out really really bad...but now most of my cookies come out great. I still have the occasional misfortune of cookies which spread to no end :(. Another is Cream Puff Shells! After three attempts I still haven't been able to get these things right! *sigh* But I will be trying again.

Easy Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
I wanted something quick and easy. It is very creamy for sure, but it could definitely use more vanilla flavour to it. Like others I found this tasted a lot like sweetened cream. I am happy I only made half the recipe and will probably use it in milkshakes instead of just eating it as I originally intended.

Pralines II
I was in the mood for pralines and decided upon this recipe. I am just learning how to make candies and this turned out wonderful! It was so smooth and melt in your mouth delicious. Very sweet of course too. I have a gas stove so I started off with low heat like the recipe said and kept it there for the whole recipe - basically from fear that it'd burn and not turn out well if I turned up the heat (like I said, not an experienced candy maker yet) It sure took a while to get to 240F like this but the end result was worth it. I will definitely make this recipe again, daring to venture into turning up the heat next time as the recipe states. I also toasted my pecans. Thanks so much for sharing!

Bacon Wrapped Shrimp
I pre-marinated my shrimp in a simple mixture of black pepper and cayenne pepper, then wrapped them (but I did not use whole bacon strips, only half strip per shrimp) and grilled on my George Foreman. They turned out delicious! I dipped in a mixture of ketchup, honey and pepper sauce and served with fried rice. Next time I'm going to just eat these as an appetizer because they were so good I almost forgot about the rice! Thanks for an absolutely delicious recipe.
