First Decorated Cake!
My family
Heavenly Angel Food Cake
About this Cook
I am 16 years old and have been cooking/baking for about 2 years. However, I have always helped my mom in the kitchen. Now, the oven is all MINE! I make dinner almost every night and it is always as "from scratch" as possible. Right now we have some long-term guests and have discovered that I love cooking for larger groups :) I also enjoy decorating cakes, running, biking, gardening (if I'm baking from scratch the veggies ought to be mine too), playing piano, ballet, and learning new stuff. I can't wait until I grow up and have a family of my own to cook for! (and my own kitchen of course) I really want to be a stay-at-home mom and be mostly self-sufficient.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to bake are bread and cakes and I love cooking an entirly foreign meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every christmas my family makes pheffies (don't know how to spell the entire word). They are little round cookies with pecans in them and rolled twice in powdered sugar.
My cooking triumphs
I have finally mastered the perfect way to make my bread rise! I have also made a number of very successful angel food cakes. And just recently I began seriously decorating cakes with a preference of buttercream vs. fondant. My first real cake is my profile picture.
My cooking tragedies
On Christmas eve last year, I was filling the cinnamon roll dough with the sugar mixture. Not only had it failed to rise but when I went into the living room for just one minute, my dog grabbed it off the counter and ate it! Thakfully that was only half the dough. Still, I was infuriated.

Heavenly White Cake
I used lemon extract instead of almond and it was delicious!!! It only made 2-8" layers but that was all I needed anyway.

Rolled Buttercream Fondant
This was my first time working with fondant and it was great! if it ever got to stiff from the powdered sugar that I was dusting it with I just added a drop or two of cornsyrup and kneaded it in.

Cream Puffs
I didn't use the filling recipe (I filled them with homemade whipped cream)but the puffs were really good! My whole family raved about them. I used a tablespoon sized scoop and got 38 shells.
