Me trying to cool off in the summer
About this Cook
I'm a writing major at my local University and I really love to cook. I'm going to Paris and London in May and am so excited to go!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking different chicken recipes and mexican food. I also love making creme brulee and crepes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite is Thanksgiving. It's really tradition food and I love smelling the turkey cooking in the house all day long. I always get to make the mashed potatoes in my house and I love using the masher on them.
My cooking triumphs
For some reason I cannot make a pancake to save my life but crepes are kind of a specialty of mine, at least in my house. I'm the only one in my house that can tell if a crepe is done and ready to flip or not. I also love making creme brulee and the different steps that are needed to make it correctly are something that I am willing to do repeatedly.
My cooking tragedies
I tried making orange chicken one night and the sauce ended up being too sweet and too thick. It had the same consistency peanut butter that had been in the fridge for a few hours. It was completely awful.

Pepperoni Burgers
I was really looking forward to these...been waiting to make them all day and they just didn't do it for me. I don't know what happened but they just tasted really blah. Definitely needed something.

Aggression ( Oatmeal ) Cookies
I scaled the recipe down to only make 12 and I also made some changes based on other reviews. I added some cinnamon because oats and cinnamon just makes sense to me. I also added vanilla and a pinch of salt to bring out the flavors. I also substituted the butter for butter-flavored Crisco because that's how my mother makes her cookies and it's got less saturated fat in it than butter. The end result was good but I think that without the changes it wouldn't have been as flavorful as I usually like it.

Red Lentil Curry
I'm eating this as I type and it has a really good flavor. I've never made lentils before this so I think that next time I do I will definitely let them simmer longer. This dish wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be and I don't know if it was something that I did or not so next time I will probably add more heat to it. The flavor is still really nice, I'll make it again.
