About this Cook
I love food, but I am not very good at making it. Little things like the correct spices to use for what have limited my cooking. I mostly stick to baking (my sister loves making the actual meals).
My favorite things to cook
If I am cooking, I really like to cook salmon or other fish. I love most vegetables, and lately I like to use a slow-cooker. If I'm baking, I tend to make cookies of all varieties.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have always baked and decorated cutout cookies for Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
I've started to get over my fear of handling raw meat...not completely, but started. I like meat, but the texture can be weird and with all the bad things you hear about contaminated meat, I tend to avoid cooking with it myself. (Don't think I could ever become a vegetarian or vegan though).
My cooking tragedies
I once tried to imitate a recipe that I successfully made while in France. It was for "Clafoutis des vendangers"...pretty much a hard to describe dessert that has blueberries, rum, orange water, and I can't remember what else in it. Making it stateside resulted in a gooey, sunken-in mess.

Wiener Schnitzel
Delicious--very close to the real thing I had while in Austria.
