Mini Cheesecakes

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
Well these tasted good but they didn't look very pretty. Probably my fault - I used the foil baking cups (thought they would hold up better) and they all fell in the middle. Maybe they didn't cook evenly because of the foil cups?

Megan's Granola

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
Be careful not to over cook. It isn't crunchy straight out of the oven, but it crips up as it cools. I made about 1/4 of a batch just to see how it would turn out and it was really good. However 20 min was actually a little bit too long for this reduced amount of granola - it was a little burned but still tasty. I also added the craisins and some shredded coconut a few minutes before baking was complete.

Deep-Fried Turkey Marinade

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
Adds very good flavor to the turkey. Used the Creole Seasoning recipe on this site and reduced the amount of cayenne pepper to 1/4 cup, allowed to marinate overnight. Wasn't too spicy at all (didn't eat the skin though). Next time I will use the full 1/2 cup of cayenne pepper and it will probably be even better!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
Almost 5 star. I even added a little can of sliced jalepeno peppers to the crock pot, but it still needed just a little bit more intensity of flavor for me. I will try toping the sandwhich with sliced grilled onions & bell peppers next time. Very easy recipe.

Blueberry Buckle

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
Perfect - very moist blueberry cake with delicious streusel topping. Cut the flour to 1&1/2 cups per other reviewer's suggestions, substituted butter for shortening, added 1 tbsp vanilla. Also added nuts to the crumb topping. Baked for 40 min at 350.

Grilled Yellow Squash

My husband said these would taste better (and be healthier) with just garlic salt.

Whole Wheat and Honey Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
My husband enjoyed this pizza dough, but I thought it would have been better if it was crispier (it was still soft after 20 minutes in the oven - maybe because we cooked it on a pizza stone?). Next time I will try dividing this recipe in half to get two smaller, thinner crusts.

Wheat Germ Whole-Wheat Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
Pretty good, especially for how healthy they are. Didn't have buttermilk, so I used lowfat vanilla yogurt & milk, seemed to work just fine. Toasted the wheat germ for 5 minutes under the broiler, and added huckleberries to the batter for extra sweetness. Smaller pancakes work better, larger ones fall apart when flipping.

Pear Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
Very moist, good flavor. I had to add 1/3 cup milk, probably because I used extra pears and zucchini (didn't want left overs). I also added 1 cup of chocolate chips. Made 6 mini loaves.

From-Scratch Venison Stroganoff

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
Pretty good use for venison. Reduces the gamey flavor. I used 1/2 the amount of oil & 1/2 the sour cream (also light sour cream) to cut the calories down even further, and I cooked it in my crockpot. I also added a little crushed red pepper since my husband likes food spicy. Served it over noodles.

Chicken Wing Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
This recipe has a really good rating so I was very surprised when no one at my party liked this dip. It was too tangy (maybe less ranch would be better?) and the orange color was scaring people off.

Quick Chicken Divan

Needs extra seasoning on the chicken and seasoned breadcrumbs on top to combat lack of flavor. However, a good way to disguise broccoli.

Very good flavor. Had to add a lot of cornstarch to thicken though. Topped with crushed chips, extra cheese & sour cream.

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
My husband loved this pie. I didn't have to add any cornstarch, I just continued cooking the pudding until it thickened up. I also did not bake it, as the other reviewers suggested not to, and I only used 2 bananas since that's all I had and it still turned out great!
