About this Cook
I am 30 years old and a mother of one daughter who is eleven. I was a single parent for five years and have now been married for four years to a wonderful man from England who gave up everything to relocate to canada to be with my daughter and I. I work two jobs but always find time to cook and experiment with my own recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake fancy pastries and other baked goods. I always take a taste but rely on my family to eat it and give me reviews. I love to cook everything and anything!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love getting out the christmas goodies recipes and planning what we are going to make every year. My daughter and I have made a tradition of this and i look forward to it every year.
My cooking triumphs
In an attempt to save money at our wedding reception we decided that I would do the lunch along with help from my mom and a few friends. I managed to plan, cook and lay out a beautiful spread buffet style and was asked all night who catered the event. When I told them that I did, they asked me to do theirs as well. Maybe someday I will take on that venture but not just yet.
My cooking tragedies
I was in charge of bringing the pie to Thanksgiving at my brother's this year, so I made a beautiful deep=dish apple crumble pie. The pastry was made from scratch and there was at least 12 apple in it, golden crumble topping, it was absolutely gorgeous and smelled wonderful baking in the oven. I was on my way out the door, to go to my brother's, hot pie in hand when i dropped it! It was ruined! and no time to bake another.

Orange Blossom Trifle
Wow, I was hesitant to try this because it was not yet rated but I am so glad I did! I made a couple of changes, not because of the taste, but I was making it for my Aunt who loves chocolate and orange together. I made it as the recipe states and added some grated Terry's Chocolate Orange on top of the cake layers and garnished the top with chocolate orange sections and mandarin sections. You could go a step further and use chocolate cake instead of the angel food cake but nothing says spring like angel food cake so i used it anyway. What a refreshing dessert and a nice change from the traditional trifle i have to make my husband since he is British. Great recipe!!! I wish we had taken a picture but it was eaten up so fast I didn't get a chance.
