I live in New Orleans, and am just beginning to understand how blessed I am to live in such a wonderfully culinary part of the world!
My favorite things to cook
I have a great roasted chicken and root vegetables recipe that I love, it's delicious and so fun to make! I also love making my mom's crawfish etofee... it's such a time-consuming recipe, but it's SO good!
My cooking triumphs
Mastering my mother's Spanish Rice recipe, and anytime my husband says, "that was better than my mom's!" ;-)
My cooking tragedies
The first Easter my husband & I were married, we had my parents over for Easter Lunch. We had Crawfish Etoufee (a usual on Easter Sunday with my family), french bread, and fresh salad. Everything was great... until I tried to be impressive. My plan was to make homemade croutons the way my grandma used to do. Unfortunately, when I put them in the oven, I sat down... AND FELL ASLEEP! 45 minutes later, the croutons were charred so badly that when I touched them they crumbled to ashes! I had to call my mother (who thankfully had not left her house yet) and ask her to bring some croutons!
Unfortunately, I still forget about what's in the oven on occasion!
