About this Cook
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family background is especially significant for me. My famiy heritage is a mix of German, English, and Irish. The best part of my heritage is that my parents both talk about their parents' and grandparents' favorite recipes. I love the stories about my great grandmother Duesler mixing a bowl of cake batter on her hip with a big wooden spoon, and my grandfather Barker's famous buckaroo biscuits, venison goulash, and turtle soup.
My cooking triumphs
Rippy-Dippy Bread. Enough Said.
My cooking tragedies
Hmmm....Well, my first cake was a literal flop. I was about 15 years old and decided to make my dad's favorite- banana cake. All went well until the part about how to tell when a cake is done. I poked it with a toothpick, and decided it must be done since the alotted minutes had past. However, when we cut the cake, what did we find? Mostly pudding. HAHA. My dad ate it though, he said that next to banana cake, banana pudding was his favorite!

Zippy Shepherd's Pie
It's great, even with my necessary substitutions. I needed to use canned tomatoes instead of fresh, and frozen green beans instead of the peas and carrots and it was still delicious! XOXO Joce

Sara's Pumpkin Pie
Yep. It's the best. Honestly, I have never enjoyed pumpkin pie so much as I did this. And, I used my own pumpkin, not canned, and it came out perfect. Not watery in the least. XOXO Joce

Tangy Hawaiian Chicken
Great. Very flavorful. I cooked the chicken with the sauce and the rice by itself. ~Joce
