i am a wife and mother of 2, i also work at the portol to hell, lol, the dmv, i have a really busy life style but i always find time to learn new recipes, love this site! I love to cook my mexican and puerto rican rice. My whole family is always asking me to make either or, for birthdays, partys, and holidays, i never get tired of either! maybe one day i'll put the recipes on here but its kind of hard and i dont go by measurments, i was taught to cook it by eye and you get better at it with time and ive been cookin them for years. I dont really have alot of traditions,yes many mexicans get together for the holidays and make tamales but we havent done that in years, everyone works now and are busy with there own lifes that we havent had time for it, but i have watched many of people cook and they say when you no longer need a measuring cup it is then that you are a pro!! Im use to cooking mexican food and a few american dishes but i recently got married and my husband doesnt care for spicy food, yea that was a problem,lol. so i have been trying new things and my greatest achievement was making my mother-in-laws gumbo down to the T.and let me tell you people you havent tried gumbo till you've tried hers. If ever i make soup or rice, before the meal is done cooking,when all the ingridents are in, you always try the caldo(the sauce or soup) and if it doesnt taste right add more or take some out and add more water.
