Frozen Strawberry Yogurt

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
Very good! This is a very adaptable recipe (I left out the strawberries and folded in some chopped Oreo cookie pieces to make cookies and cream) My husband's complaint was that it was too tangy from the yogurt - it did not taste like frozen yogurt from the grocery store.

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2009
Oh so good! This is my favorite summer salad! I have made it at least 5 times in the last month. I also add shredded coleslaw mix with carrots(about half a small bag) to add a bit more veggies and omit the raw onion.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2009
Very good and easy! Following other reviews I used half whole wheat flour and half applesauce. I also used 2 decent sized zucchini and a little bit of allspice and nutmeg. My husband who does not like zucchini tried it and thought it was spice bread! He ate a whole loaf himself. Next time I will try it with a crumb topping to disguise it even further.

Cranberry Chutney I

Excellent! I made this for Thanksgiving and even my picky sister loved it. I have also served it over Brie cheese with crackers for a quick appetizer. I just made up a double batch and will freeze some for future use.

Cinnamon Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
Very good and Very rich! I also added some chopped baked apples after it came out of the ice cream freezer. Next time I will add oatmeal or sugar cookie crumbles or just have the baked apples on the side with the cookies.

Shrimp Scampi IV

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
I make individual portions of this and add extra garlic, a shake of Old Bay & a few grape tomatoes (I love the way they "pop"). I arrange the shrimp & tomatoes in individual oven-proof dishes - it turns out very pretty! It is wonderful as is (served with twice baked potatoes & salad or as an appetizer) or served over pasta with Parm. & a Cesear salad.

Kentucky Hot Brown

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
We had some leftover smoked chicken and I had been wanting to make this. We found it bland the first day but the flavors seemed to meld by lunch the next day. Unfortunately by then the bread was very soggy. Hubby tried it with a sprinkling of cayenne and liked the bit of a kick.

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
The pudding was a little firm. I would use a little more milk next time. I made it in individual glass dishes so that it would be easy to pick up as a snack out of the fridge. Make sure it sits for a few hours or overnight before serving or the cookies will be too hard.

Ham 'n' Brie Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
I have made a version of this sandwich a long time. I use a Brie spread instead of slices of Brie because I dont like the rind on a sandwich. I also will put it on a crossiant and grill it like a panini. Delicious!

Rockin' Oysters Rockefeller

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2008
I have made this numerous times- but I put the sauce over fish (grilled tuna or mahi-mahi) instead. I always add a pound of crumbled bacon (we LOVE bacon) & a couple of drops of hot sauce and use an Italian cheese mixture & shredded monteray jack for the cheeses (just easier!). Pour the sauce over the fish and top with a little Parmesean or Italian cheese on the top and pop it into the oven to brown. FANTASTIC! My family always requests this. For a special dinner I serve with Coconut Shrimp, Cesear Salad, & Twice Baked potatoes.

Mushroom Pork Chops

Very good cold weather comfort food. My husband wanted me to find a recipe close to one his mother used to make & I think this is it. I deglazed the pan with a 1/2 cup of white wine and served over noodles. Quick, easy and tender!

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2008
Very Very good! This made 12 regular sized muffins and 9 mini muffins. I made the mini muffins with no cheesecake mixture or topping and they were very good too! In fact, they were not as sweet and were a good snack in the afternoon.

Pumpkin-Apple Muffins with Streusel Topping

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2008
Very good. I thought I had pumpkin but when it was time to add it I discovered that I was out. Even without the pumpkin they were VERY moist! I used 1/2 brown & 1/2 white sugar and chopped one apple and grated another. I will probably chop both next time. I added a tbsp. of oatmeal to the streusel and that was very good on top.

Oatmeal Pudding Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
Very good! I have been searching for a recipe similar to my husband's grandmother's recipe, and this is pretty close. I double the raisins and soak in hot water while preparing the rest of the dough. Use the recommended 2 1/2 cups of dough and add nutmeg and a dash of allspice. I portion out these cookies (as I do almost all cookies) and freeze them, then I can take out 5 or 6 and bake when I want fresh cookies. Just be sure to flatten them before freezing. I will try with chocolate chips next time!

Walnut Raisin Scones

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2007
I have been known at work for my scones but decided to try a new recipe. This recipe is better than my old one! I did make a few changes. I did not use walnuts (don't like them)and added extra raisins and added a tsp of cinnamon. I lightened it by using light butter and half splenda. I tried vanilla instead (added it to the buttermilk). I also tried it with a chopped dark chocolate. (These went VERY fast- they are heaven right out of the oven)

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
Excellent Recipe! I now come up with other Asian dishes for dinner just so that I can make this soup to go with it! I took the advice of other reviewers and added my cornstarch before the eggs. I have also added a bouillon cube to the broth to give it some extra flavor.
