About this Cook
I'm a 24 year old just getting on my feet. I live with my husband, Jerry, in the Midwest. My greatest passions are my family and God, and I have a very strong love for music. I started cooking after my mother went back to work, when I was around 8 years old. I first thought it was a chore, but came to enjoy it when I realized how creative you can be with cooking. Now I love being able to prepare and have a wonderful meal ready for my husband when he comes home from work.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, so cookies, cakes and cheesecakes would probably be on the top of my list.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love Thanksgiving back home, because it's the one holiday where everyone pitches in on the meal. If you don't help, you don't eat... that's the rule. It's nice to be able to come together and make delicious food while enjoying the company of loved ones.
My cooking triumphs
Probably the first time I made pancakes. It might sound silly, but I was just a kid and I was terrified that a pancake would end up on the floor, batter side down. You may be relieved to know that my pancakes were a success, and still are!
My cooking tragedies
I remember one time when I was a teenager, I made a box of brownies, but forgot to add the eggs. They turned out so flat and nasty, nobody would eat them! Such a waste.

Best Beef Dip Ever
This is everything you could hope for in a recipe - fast, easy and fool proof! I always make this as directed with one exception... I use fresh rosemary - it makes a huge difference in flavor! Also, since I only need to feed two, I usually scale down the au jus by half using 1/2 cup of soy sauce and 3 cups of water. It's just enough for my husband and I and it tastes great, although I think I'll take the advice of some of the previous reviews and try using beef broth in place of the water next time.

Easy Four Cheese Lasagna
Whenever I start craving lasagna, this is the recipe I turn to! To make it more hearty, I always add a large can of diced tomatoes and a couple cloves of garlic in addition to the sauce. I also like to use the "oven ready" pasta, so I add a cup of water to the sauce so that the pasta will cook as it bakes. Leave the last layer of cheese off. Wrap tightly with foil, bake at 425ºF for an hour, remove foil and add the last layer of cheese and return to the oven just long enough to let it melt. Mmm... absolutely heavenly!

French Breakfast Puffs
My grandma used to make these when I was a little girl and they are still a favorite of mine after all these years. She would bake them in a cast iron muffin tin shaped like bears and then dip the whole muffin in butter and roll in the cinnamon and sugar mixture. I make them the same way, except I add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the batter for additional flavor. Love these and the memories that come with them!
