Mushroom Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
Pretty good recipe. I'd use it again. I used brown rice and found that I needed to use 3 cups of broth. Two cups and the alloted time of 20 min didn't work for me. I had to simmer for about 30 min. Even then, all the liquid was gone but the rice wasn't done. So I added another cup of broth, brought it back to a boil for about 3 minutes and then simmered it until all liquid was gonee and it worked. Very tasty!

Quick Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
Not a bad recipe for a quick, easy meal. Because I read lots of reviews saying that it lacked flavor, I cooked the chicken with Season All and then added a little more and pepper to the soup mixture. Also, I added more cheese than it called for because my husband and teenager like "cheesy". (I used sharp cheddar which helped with the flavor too.) They both seemed to like it--went for seconds. My three year old ate it too.

Muenster Chicken and Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
I used what I had on hand and varied a little from the recipe -- I used cheddar cheese instead of muenster and finely crushed Triscuit crackers instead of bread crumbs -- and the chicken was DELICIOUS! My husband loved it and so did my picky teenager! The chicken was so moist, perfect! I'm keeping this recipe on hand, for sure!

Asparagus-Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Restaurant quality. I followed this recipe as is and it was very good. I typically don't like to cook my food in the microwave, but I said I'd give it a try, especially since I needed something quick for dinner, and was well pleased. Thanks for sharing!!

Saucy Chicken and Asparagus

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2008
Quick, easy, and tasty too! I improvised on this recipe. I didn't have any cream of chicken soup on hand, so I used jarred chicken gravy instead. The sauce was thinner than I had expected but the taste was good. I served it with Mediterranean curry couscous. It went over well with my husband, sister and 16-year old daughter. They wanted more! I can't wait to prepare it again with the cream of chicken soup!

Fried Butterflied Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2008
PERFECT! I've finally found the recipe for perfect fried shrimp! The only variance I made to this recipe was to add salt, pepper, and Old Bay Seasoning to the bread crumbs. My family loved these shrimp. They are definitely restaurant quality, if not better. Delicious!

Maple Salmon

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
I prepared this recipe for my family and we all enjoyed it. It was a tad on the sweet side, but it was definitely good nonetheless. I'd make it again, for sure. It's a nice change from my favorite salmon recipe from this site, the Balsamic-Glazed Salmon.

Gravy Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
This is an okay recipe. I sauteed the chops in olive oil and garlic, as others suggested, and used less milk and water since I like a thicker gravy. I also seasoned the gravy a bit with onion powder and Season All. It was okay, nothing super special about it. I might try it again, using a little more spices next time.

Hot Chicken Salad II

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
Pretty good recipe. My husband loved it. He asked for more and more. I left out the water chestnuts because I didn't have any on hand. You can certainly vary this recipe to your liking. I seasoned the chicken with Season All before cooking and then added a little salt and pepper to the mixture before baking. I'll make it again for sure.

After-Thanksgiving Turkey Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2007
I made this soup after Thanksgiving, using my leftover turkey carcass. Mmmm, mmmm, good! My whole family loved it, including my husband who doesn't care for soups. He remarked that I could make this soup for him anytime! I'm holding onto this recipe. Thanks!

Crunchy Turkey Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
Very good recipe for leftover turkey. I substituted almonds for the walnuts because that's what I had on hand. My family loved this salad. I've had a chicken salad from a cafe that was very similar to this but it had currants in it also. And it was delicious. Next time, I'll try adding currants to this recipe.

Baked Sweet Potato Sticks

Very good and healthy alternative to french fries. I used cinnamon instead of paprika. I slice mine a bit thinner than the recipe calls for. They are better at room temperature, as another reviewer mentioned. My family loved them. I've made them twice already and will make them again and again.

Beef Fried Rice

I tried this recipe when I was looking for something different, quick and easy to prepare with ground beef. This turned out to be pretty good. I added some fresh chopped ginger to mine for a little "authentic" Asian taste. I'll use this recipe again.

Pecan Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
I'll bake this one again. I baked this for Thanksgiving and it turned out pretty good. I read the reviews and used only 2 cups of sugar as others had suggested, and found it to be plenty sweet. I opted not to do the glaze because I had baked other cakes with icing and wanted to give my family and guests different options with the cakes. This cake is on the dense side, but good nonetheless.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
The absolute "BEST"! I baked Chantal's New York Cheesecake for Thanksgiving and my family and guests couldn't get enough! Neither could I! This recipe is restaurant quality, if not better. The taste and texture are superb. I followed this recipe to a "T", and it came out perfect -- no cracks. I have requests to bake more. I will use this recipe again and again -- a definite keeper. Thanks, Chantal!!!

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
I must join the majority and give this recipe a "high" five! I baked this for Thanksgiving and my family and guests couldn't get enough, myself included. I followed the suggestions of other reviewers and used half white and half brown sugars, added 1 tsp. lemon juice and 1 TB flour. I also used evaporated milk instead of whole milk. If you like sweet potato pie, you'll love this one!

Best Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
I prepared this recipe for Thanksgiving and found it to be good. I've prepared other green bean casseroles and found this recipe to be comparable to the others. I wouldn't say that this was the "best", but it was good. I would use this recipe again.
