I have recently just married the man of my dreams on Sept. 9 2006. We have been together for five years now and we are so excited about this new life together we have just begun. I have always enjoyed cooking from the time I was a little girl but with in the past five years I suppose the stability in my relationship with my husband has brought out the desire to REALLY cook! Not to mention the fact that we have so much fun cooking considering that my husband is also a professional chef and my mother went to college for home economics and can cook everything from scratch!!
I love to be the one in the house to cook a great dish and blow them all away in complete aahh... :)
My favorite things to cook
There are so many things that I enjoy cooking that it is hard to place it on only a few things.
I love making new things to eat for breakfast. This is usually done on a Saturday morning becuase I end up staying in the kitchen a little to long. My husband is a big breakfast eater so I like creating something new for him to enjoy. His favorite is either my homeade waffels or a dish that I make (dont know the name) that pretty much requires all his favorite breakfast food eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, cheese and few other ingredients to be mixed together and then baked. This isn't the most creative but I enjoy it because my husband loves it so much!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving Dinner!
It is so much fun to first plan out my menu and then prepare for all the new and exciting dishes. We like to still keep things somewhat traditional but add new improvements to certain dishes just to jazz it up a little. I never tell anybody excatly what I am cooking so it is neat to see everybody's reaction as they line up to get their plates. So far so good, I have not had any bad reactions (or reviews) the past few years that I have started this. Pray For Me!!
My cooking triumphs
At the last minute, I was told by another member on the board for the homeless in my state, that dinner was not being prepared for the homeless that evening by who was originally suppose to handle it that day. I was able to get food and get to the kitchen in time to make dinner for about 25-35 people that night. The menu was Bake b-que chicken, steamed broccoli, mac & cheese (the real deal, not the box),hot rolls and fresh salad.
The great thing about cooking no matter who it is for, is the gratification you recieve simply by giving someone a great meal. I could not have asked for any other great moment than this day. Not only did they love my cooking but they sincerely appreciated what I had just done for them.
My cooking tragedies
HAHA....I have had many!! As a matter of fact, I still have a picture from one tragedy. The first time I tried to back bannana nut bread. Still to this day I couldn't tell ya what I did wrong but my bread came out the oven looking as if it could have gotten up off that pan and started walking! It was so ugly that you couldn't imagine eating it but ofcourse I had to try it right?......bad idea!
