My Three Sons
About this Cook
I am 46 years old. I have a wonderful, loving husband and three very handsome sons. My oldest son is 22 yrs old, middle son, 19 yrs old and youngest son, 4 yrs old. As you might guess, I am a bit crazy.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I especially love baking cookies. They don't last very long around our house. The guys make sure that I get a great deal of practice in cookie baking. Also, I enjoy experimenting with main dishes. I enjoy trying many different combinations of food to create original tasty meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Each year, beginning anywhere from the end of September to the beginning of Novemeber, I invite friends and family members over to bake cookies and freeze them for Christmas. I have been doing that since my Grandmother did it with me in the early 60's. Tradition is a wonderful thing.
My cooking triumphs
Many RAVE about my macaroni and potato salads. I am really not sure why. I tend to stick with a very basic recipe and rarely make them the same way each time.
My cooking tragedies
My most memorable cooking tragedy happened to occur during one of my tradition cooking baking sessions. A freind had come over with all of their ingredients in unmarked containers. When I noted that my chocolate chip cookie dough was MUCH too gooey, I proceeded to add more and MORE and M O R E flour. (All of the time wondering WHY the dough was not thickening up). It was not until after the cookies were baked that I noticed that they had puffed up into HUGE air discs. It seems that the "flour" that I was adding was actually powdered sugar. I would not suggest this variation in the recipe. However, it was fun to offer this "unusual treat" to unknowing individuals and watch their reaction as they tried VERY hard not to insult my ability to bake.
