Gazpacho Pasta Salad

I love gazpacho and really wanted to love this salad, but just couldn't do it. After making as directed, I still thought the dressing lacked something-so I added more lime juice (probably doubled the orginal amount when all was said and done) but it still was just an okay salad. I'll probably keep working with this recipe to make it more like I would enjoy, but not sure it will be any time soon.

Southwestern Pasta Salad

Took this and 4 other salads to my niece's briadal shower and this was the big No Seller. Not sure why, but no one seemed to like this salad. I thought the taste was okay, but I will admit as we were cleaning up it was the one bowl I tossed rather than saved to bring home. I stink at modifying recipes, but am thinking possibly a smarter cook would know how to tweak the dressing which was heavy on seasoning, but low on flavor - meaning I could taste all of the seasonings and spices in there, just don't know that they tasted good in there!

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

Because I was only making this for a small bridal shower, I cut the serving size down to 12. Doing so, I can tell you this is a very delicious salad dressing. The only thing I did wrong, was to not havew enough greens in my salad-made it a little too soggy, but that was totally my fault. Good dressing that is easy to pull together.

California Roll Salad

There is a good concept in this salad-just not as written (for me anyway). Maybe I'm just not a fan of rice-based salads, or maybe there was too much rice and not enough salad; but for some reason the rice just overpowered the salad. The dressing is delicious, and I would double next time so I had some to pour on before and during serving. Will try again, but am feeling the need to tinker with this a bit to make it something I'll love eating.

Icy Blender Lemonade

We love this. My daughter, who's 12, makes this by herself all the time and we have perfected it. I like my lemonade more lemony and less sugary so we add 1-2 extra lemons squeezed. But everything else is just right.

Corn Dog Casserole

Lower rating is because it's hot dogs and I just can't see myself ever saying a hot dog is the most delicious thing I've ever tasted and because the ratios in this recipe are way off. Had a freezer emergency that caused 5 pounds of hot dogs to thaw. Needed to find interesting ways to use them up. This was the best of all the ideas. Accidentally did not use the entire amount of cornbread mix called for and am really glad. Even though I doubled the hot dogs there was still a lot of dough for each bite. So if you half the cornbread mix and double the hot dogs--you'll enjoy this.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

I added many more vegetables because when I looked in my crockpot it looked veggie-barren. Doubled the veggies listed and next time I would add 1 more pound of stew meat to make it the perfect combination. Really good taste though-my husband hates veggies/stew and even he liked this one.

Homemade Vanilla Pudding

Not sure why so many people had trouble with this recipe. I followed Rosemary's directions exactly and got puding, just like I thought I would. Not opaque (white because there's no added coloring), not lumpy, not runny. Just pudding. I used it to make peanut butter cream pie and did add a little yellow food coloring so that the pie didn't look too one-colored but it was totally perfect as it came out of the fridge after cooling. Only 4 stars because it was a bit sweet for me, but my son loved it as it is written.

Asian Potato Salad

Good overall taste, but as written it is too soopy for my taste and the onion/red pepper are way too much for 6 new red potatoes. Next time I'll add more potatoes (probably 6 more) and try that.

Grilled Mexican Chicken

The chicken that comes from this brine is juicy and delicious. The only change I made was to extend the chicken's soak in the lime/pineapple/water mixture. Let it go most of the day, pulled it out, grilled it, and it was great.

Beer Spuds

Another reviewer said these potatoes had a "distinctive flavor." That flavor is beer, and not in a tasty-addition-to-my-recipe way. The lack of salt may have contributed to the bland taste of these potatoes, I think the beer could be cut in half and chicken stock could add a little more depth of flavor. Tried to rescue the potatoes as leftovers by frying them and adding salt and seasoning, but I still couldn't get over the BEER taste. Of the 5 of us in my family, highest rating was 1/2 a thumbs up by my son who will eat anything.

Super Gyro Steak Salad

Holy Cow! This recipe has got a great base to work from. Loved everything up until I added the Newman's Own Light Lime dressing. The dressing gave a funky taste to the dressing (it's that weird taste you get from "light" stuff that kind of tastes fake.) Next time I'll just squeeze in some real lime and I am sure it will be delicious.

Mushroom Orzo

Pretty tasty beginning for pasta. I used chopped Vidalia onion and sauteed with the mushrooms. I cut back the oil by about 1/3 and it still was good. Only addition was fresh basil at the very end. Delicious!

Garlic Corn on the Cob

I was really looking forward to this side dish for dinner, but was underwhelmed. It tasted like corn on the cob with a hint of garlic-essence. By roasting the corn on the grill it also ruined some of the juiciness I love. Not a great enough recipe to be saved, tried again, or even thought about.

Mad Hatter Salad

After reading the reviews I decided to try this recipe out on my family. The taste is great. My kids (while I was making this) kept turning up their noses at this salad, but couldn't leave it alone once everything was mixed together. Very delicious!

Antipasto Pasta Salad

There is nothing in this recipe that I don't love, but when I made this for a cook out yesterday, it wasn't as delicious as I thought it would be. There was too much oregano and too much of the two meats--as a ratio to the veggies and pasta. Next time I make this, I will halve the oregano, halve the meat, and see if that fits my tastes better.
