Broccoli Salad IV

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
This broccoli salad was great. I changed the recipe a bit by blanching the broccoli florets and omitting the sugar. Instead, I mixed the mayonnaise with a few tablespoons of Trader Joe's Orange Muscat Champagne Vinegar which added really great flavor.

Bacon Wrapped Dates Stuffed with Blue Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
I've always ordered these at one of my favorite tapas restaurants here in Chicago. So this past weekend I decided to make some for a cocktail party I was hosting. Instead of blue cheese, I filled the dates with slivered almonds and baked them for 20 minutes in a 450 degree oven. They turned out crispy and delicious. A HUGE hit with my guests.

Herb and Garlic Cheese Spread

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
I used this as a substitute for Boursin. It wasn't exactly the same but still quite good. I piped it over cucumber slices and topped it with finely diced red bell pepper.

Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2007
Although delicious, this was not what I was looking for in a frosting. It turned out incredibly runny and I ended up having to dip the tops of my cupcakes in order to apply it.

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2007
This is a really delicious chocolate cake. I cut the recipe in half in order to make 16 cupcakes. I followed other reviewers' suggestions and used hot milk instead of water. I also whipped the egg whites and folded them into the batter. The result was an incredibly rich, fluffy cake. I will definitely make this again.

Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2006
I made this recipe for a dinner party and it was absolutely fabulous. I roasted the squash, and used real butter and chicken stock. I also added a few tablespoons of dry sherry and zested some fresh ginger - both added a some really great flavors to the dish. I suggest cutting the cream cheese in half as some other reviewers have stated.
