About this Cook
Happily married, empty nester. I Love my grandchildren and cookie with them!
My favorite things to cook
Bake actually! Christmas cookies and desserts
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Olie Bollen on New Years Day, Cooking for Thanksgiving and making more Christmas cookies than ANY family could eat!
My cooking tragedies
Where to begin: First time I cooked for hubby I added baking soda to the gravy instead of flour! As a new bride I set the lid of the pan on the stove and set off the alarm-burning my new pots and pans. I still have this problem: Starting some elaborate recipe, that I am SURE I have all the ingredients to only to find out at the end, usually late at night, when I am my scuziest, that I am missing a key ingredient!

Olie Bollen
I was SO surprised to hear that this was a New Years tradition with the dutch, even though we made these EVERY New Years day- I thought it was just a family thing LOL! Our recipe did not use yeast and is very easy to make: 2 cup of buttermilk 3 tbsp oil 1 1 /4 cup sugar 2-3 eggs 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp salt 1 cup raisins 4 cups of flour. Mix all ingrediants and deep fry till golden . makes about 3 dozen YUM- bring on the holidays!

I make this without the cheese, and it definitly needs to bake an hour.

Corn Casserole III
Our family loves this casserole, but my recipe calls for 2 eggs- and it is never runny. Try it- it will become a family must have!(I gave it 4 stars b/c it was missing the eggs.)
