About this Cook
I have a wonderful husband of almost 22 years and a 13 year old daughter who is the apple of our eyes!! We have a miniature dachsund named Tater who LOVES to eat and will steal food from whereever and whoever he can get it. I don't know how he manages to keep his "girlish" figure of 10 lbs.!! I love to cook and to try out new recipes. I know it's good if my husband says "it's a keeper". I have a HUGE cookbook collection and would some day like to publish one of my own. I have been cooking since I was very young. Mom would turn me loose in the kitchen and let me do what I wanted to. Everyone at the local grocery store knew when I found a new recipe because mom would be there trying to find a "not your ordinary kind of ingredient" for my dish. My mom and sister are great cooks as was my grandmother. My husband's mom & sister are also great cooks, as were both of his grandmothers.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta, desserts, casseroles, one-pot meals. I love to make soups - I feel like an artist when I make soup.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I can't really think of one right now.
My cooking triumphs
I won first place in a local recipe submission contest.
My cooking tragedies
Nacho Chicken (not from this site)!!!! I don't know what happened but it went straight to the dog!!

Grilled Beer Chicken
I went straight to the recipe review (which I usually do) for this one and read the two reviews complaining about the picture of the two whole chickens on the grill. It appears to me that someone has apparently adapted the original recipe into their variation of a "Beer But Chicken" recipe. No big deal - looks great to me! Thank you to the submitter for what sounds (and looks) like a great recipe!!

Grilled Venison Backstrap
Best deer recipe I have ever tried. We used a whole deer tenderloin and cut in into the size of filet mingon (? spelling)and wrapped in bacon. However, I did not use the BBQ sauce for the 2nd marinade. I used either Lawry's Herb & Lemon or Herb & Garlic for the 2nd marinade.

Restaurant-Style Chicken Tenderloins
I made this last week and my family liked them very much. I did marinate them overnight though and I used chicken tenderloins. I made chicken salad out of the leftovers from a recipe that I just got from my Simple & Delicious magazine. I added mayo, chopped cashews, chopped apple, chopped cucumber and seasonings. It turned out great!!
