About this Cook
I'm a wife and mother of two, and I love recipes that the kids can be involved with. I'm always looking for new ways to make old favorites and different recipes from all over the world.
My favorite things to cook
I love making Lebanese food. My mother and gradmother are both Lebanese, so these are things I've grown up eating and can now share with my family and friends.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always have to make the pies for Thanksgiving and Christmas since I'm the baker in the family. One year I ventured away from the traditional pumpkin and pecan pies and made a bourbon chocolate pecan pie. Now I have to bring at least one every year.
My cooking triumphs
The most amazing thing I ever made was a 15 lb. pound cake in the shape of a lamp shade that I balanced on top of a mannequin leg for my mother's 47th birthday party.
My cooking tragedies
I have a really bad habit of setting my stovetop and oven on fire. I've done it at least five times. Needless to say I keep a fire extinguisher handy.

Gingerbread Men Cookies
Perfect recipe exactly as written. I made a batch a couple of days ago and they smelled fantastic and tasted wonderful! I'm getting ready to make another batch right now! 8 minutes was perfect...they are soft and delicious!

Kickin' Collard Greens
I made these for dinner with pork chops last night and they were a big hit with my husband. The red pepper flake gives it just the right amount of 'kick'.

Honey Cornbread
This recipe is excellent. It has great texture and flavor. The only changes I made were out of necessity- I used white corn meal instead of yellow and I substituted 3/4 C whole milk and 1/3 C melted butter for the cream as another reviewer suggested since I didn't have any. This is my new staple recipe for cornbread.
