World's Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2008
I have been making potato salad another way for many years and decided to try this because the sauce was a different twist. I made it exactly as written, just cut back on the sugar a bit, and it still seemed a tad too sweet for me. But, no doubt, this potato salad is good, and I would make it again when I have guest. As for myself and my family, I would stick to my old recipe that basically taste the same, and it just as creamy, without all the added fat and calories of the butter and sugar in this recipe.

Baby BLT

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2008
Wow! These are fantastic! Beautiful and fun to make. I didin't really read the reviews before making and didn't realize so many people added a bit of cream cheese. I actually added sour cream to the mix because I love the Blt Dip from this site and that is the way it is made. It was excellent with the sour cream, and I am sure excellent with cream cheese also. I halved the recipe and made only 12. My husband had to restrain himself from eating the whole platter!

Smoky Four Cheese Macaroni Bake

Reviewed: May 16, 2008
Some wise advice when making this recipe would be to make sure you have all your ingredients out and all your cheeses shredded before beginning, because you need to stir the flour mixture continuously. This recipe does not take long to prepare, and the sauce is very rich, with all the cheeses. Also, the liquid smoke is a necessary ingredient for the smokey flavor this recipe is intending to deliver. Although I feel this is a delightful tasting dish, I enjoy traditional mac & cheese a bit better. Sometimes a shot of liquid smoke to regular mac & cheese lends a great flavor. But I enjoyed the experience of trying the different cheeses in this recipe, such as the swiss, which I had never used in a mac & cheese recipe. All said and done, I would make this again for a change of pace. Thanks for sharing!

Sangria! Sangria!

Woweee! This is a tasty drink. And it was fun to make. I did cut back on the sugar a bit, but otherwise made exactly as the recipe states. I will have a pitcher of this on hand whenever friends visit. Thanks for the recipe!

Strawberry Spinach Salad I

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
Outstanding. I have looked over this recipe for so long because I don't really care for fruit in my salad, and I just didn't think I would like it. Whoa! Was I wrong! This is a fantastic salad and even my husband, who didn't quite know what to make of it when he saw it, was impressed. A five star as is, but next time I am thinking of adding warm bacon or feta. Then it will be off the charts! Thank you!

Di's Delicious Deluxe Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
Looking for a twist on traditional deviled eggs, I tried these. I followed the recipe exactly and felt it needed some additional kick, which is the reason for the 4 star review. As far as my additions to suit my taste, I added cayenne pepper and stone ground mustard and really, really liked them.

Maple Dill Carrots

I can't really rave about these, they were fairly good to us, just not great. I would make them again though, and maybe add a bit more sugar or some maple syrup for a bit more sweetness. Thanks for the recipe!

BLT Salad

Reviewed: May 10, 2008
This is a great little salad. I actually made the dressing ahead of time and let it sit a few hours in the fridge before putting the rest of the salad together right before serving. A little cheese or red onions next time might be a nice addition. Thanks for the recipe!

I'm not sure why, but this marinade did not produce a taste I really liked. But that, of course does not mean it is a bad recipe. Different strokes for different folks! Thanks for posting the recipe!

This rice is so tasty. I have tried a couple of other recipes for rice pilaf on this site that I like better, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with this one. It is so easy, and we enjoyed it so much. Thank you Kathy!

Crispy Herb Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
Absolute perfection! My husband and I both agree that not only is this baked chicken the closest tasting to fried, it is also just about the best chicken we have ever tasted. My search is finally over for a baked chicken that taste like it has been fried. I had no problem with the coating coming off, and I also broiled it the last 5 minutes to make it a nice golden, crispy brown. This recipe is a great find for anyone who likes the taste of fried chicken, but looking for a healthier way to prepare it. Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe!Update!! I have made this wonderful chicken twice since my first review. If you really want a treat, experiment with different kinds of potato flakes. Tonight I used buttered flavored. Fantastic!!

Spaghetti Carbonara II

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
My husband nor I had ever tried carbonara before, so with nothing to compare it to, we liked it. It was very simple to put together. While eating it, a couple of tomatoes fell off my bruschetta into it, and got me to thinking that maybe diced tomatoes would be delicious in this dish also! But as is, we really enjoyed it and I am sure I will be making this one again. Thanks for the recipe!

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
My husband and I thought this was very good. I decreased the amount of balsamic vinegar, and let the mixture sit in the fridge for a couple of hours. I like a previous reviewers suggestion of serving it in a dish with the warm toast on the side, and think I will try that when I am entertaining. Thanks for the recipe Laurie, we really enjoyed it.

Ranch Oyster Crackers

These crackers are so good. A popular name brand of crackers now come in small squares (like cheeze-its) and it is fun to make this recipe using them and mix them in a bowl with cheeze-its.

Sally's Spinach Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2008
What a comforting dish. I made a small portion of this since it was just my husband and I. It was beyond outstanding. We finished the entire thing and my husband raved on and on about it. I added just a touch of garlic to the mix to suit our taste, but it would have been excellent without it. I think green onions would have also been excellent in this dish. I am already planning to make this one a staple on my holiday table. It is a dish I will be proud to serve. Thank you for this very delicious recipe!

Tartar Sauce I

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2008
Woweee! I would have never guessed I could make a homemade tarter sauce that tasted this good! I didn't really measure anything, just whooped up all the ingredients and my husband ate the entire dish with his salmon. He was scraping the bottom of the bowl! I don't eat seafood, but I slapped a bit on my steak and it was fantastic! Thanks for this simple and very delicious recipe!

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2008
I don't eat seafood, but my husband loves it. He bought a nice piece of salmon and asked me to marinade it for him. I used this recipe and realized I was out of brown sugar so I used maple syrup instead. After marinading, he grilled it and gave it a 5 star. He swore it was the best salmon he had ever tasted! Thanks for the recipe!
