Terry's Texas Pinto Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2008
I enjoyed these beans. I have always cooked my pintos in fatback and have been looking for a way to make them taste great without all the fat. This did the trick! While I was not crazy about the salsa addition, I do think all the other ingredients were excellent and I plan to use those ingredients without the salsa everytime I make pinto beans. I never thought garlic and cummin would be such a great addition to pintos. Thanks you for this great recipe!

Easy Beer and Ketchup Meatballs

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
Beer and Ketchup. Hummm....I have played around with this recipe a few times. As written, I don't like it. Onion and garlic make great meatballs, but if you change the chopped oinion to minced onion, and change the garlic powder to minced garlic, you have a very tasty meatball. The sauce is watery, and kinda smells bad. This could be the basis for a good recipe, but as written, not so good.

Jalapeno-Blue Cheese Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2008
Bland. I like for my burgers to burst with flavor. This burger had a lot going on, a lot of calories, and very, very little flavor. If you are looking for a little something different, this may be the ticket, but if you are looking for a burst of flavor, this one just doesn't deliver. Not a bad burger at all, just not what I was looking for. Thank you!

Pesto Chicken Florentine

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2008
Top notch..with a few changes in preparation. A secret to making this recipe is to season your chicken well. Marinate it if you want. I actually used spicy seasonings, baked mine, cut it up and added it to the spinach mixture. For those who had a problem with it being watery, remember to squeeze the water out of the spinach after sauteing it. The pesto added to the alfredo lends a classy taste that will make anyone you serve this to feel special. Make subtle changes if you desire, or following the recipe exactly might suit your taste. But either way, I feel this is a winning dish. Thank you for this recipe!

Blue Cheese Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2008
I had a feeling when I was mixing these burgers that my taste buds would want more oomp! (hey everybody's taste buds are different!) so guilty as I may be, I strayed from the recipe by adding a tad of minced onion and minced garlic. As far as the blue cheese, I added the exact amount the recipe called for and really felt as if I would have liked it better with more. But the burger is delicious, no doubt! I just think the additions should be upped a bit! Thank you!

Sweet and Sour Kielbasa

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2008
I have made this recipe many times. Sometimes using kielbasa, and sometimes using cocktail wieners. Both are very good and great for parties. I throw it all in the crock pot to simmer and can never make enough. People gobble them up! When I want to change it from a 4 star to a 5 star recipe, I add prepared horseradish to the mix. It gives it a perfect taste and thickens it as well. Thanks for the recipe!

Lemon Horseradish New Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
This is a great recipe. The sauce is absolutely wonderful. I think the recipe should state that these potatoes should be sliced, and the smaller the better. When I make these again, I will be sure to double the sauce and remove the potatoes from the pan into a bowl and pour the sauce over them. Believe me, you will want to get every drop of the wonderful sauce! Thanks for the recipe!

This turned out delicious! I would not skip the BBQ sauce as others have done, or you won't be getting the true taste of this recipe. This is a perfect recipe for a summer cookout! Thank you!

Chicken Enchilada Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
I have made this dip before and although I liked it, was not overly impressed. However, tonight I made it and used it as an enchilada filling. Much better. I followed the directions, only sesoning my chicken before baking, which is a must for the ultimate flavor. (I used chili powder, cummin, garlic etc..)For my personal preference, enchilada sauce is important when I want an enchilada taste, so I doused the finished product in the sauce. I was very happy with the outcome. I will use this as a filling for enchiladas many times over! Thank You!

Luscious Lemon Bars

I made this as written. They tasted ok, but I think they are too thin and didn't seem to rise enough. They fell apart easily when trying to cut into neat squares.

Stuffed Pepperoncini

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
Never in million years would I make this for a large gathering. Way too time consuming! I made them as a snack and while they were good, if I were to serve them to many, I would chop up the peppers and mix them in with the cream cheese mixture and use it as a dip or spread because that was really good! Thanks!

Honey Mustard Easy Franks

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
Looking for a quick snack this evening, I whooped these up. I just threw everything in one pan and let simmer for a bit. This recipe is not meant to be anything fancy, and I liked it ok when I put the mixture on a bun. I'm sure this recipe would be very kid friendly, but as for myself serving them in a crock pot at a party, I probably wouldn't do because I have found recipes for that I like better. I enjoyed it for a snack attack though!

Barbie's Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2008
I enjoyed this. I have been making tuna salad one way my whole life, and I decided to try something different. While I like this, I still like my old recipe better, but I think this is an excellent recipe for tuna salad that I wouldn't be ashamed to serve anywhere. Thank you for your wonderful recipe!

Angel's Old Fashioned Beef Stew

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
I usually like to make my beef stew in the slow cooker. I tried it this way, and it made a wonderful gravy and the veggies were good. I just don't like how tough the meat comes out cooking this way, since it is always so tender when done in a slow cooker. If I were to make this again, I would add more seasonings. Thank you for the recipe!

Spaghetti Pie I

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2008
Something is just not right about this recipe. I must agree with a previous reviewer, there is a very bitter taste to the noodle mixture. Not sure what it is, could be the Parmesan cheese. This recipe is also very, very dry. I won't make this recipe again, but will use it as an "idea" of how to make spaghetti pie in the future. I made it exactly as written, but it just was not very tasty. But I appreciate your post Kimberly and thank you for letting me try it!

Garlic Lover's Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
Extra! Extra! Extra garlic is needed here if you are a huge garlic fan like I am! Just throw some garlic salt or garlic powder into the breading, which ever you like, and don't be scared! You may find that you need a bit more cooking time, and turn the broiler on for last minute crispiness. Delicious combo of ingredients that I will make many times. Thank you so much!
