About this Cook
I am 44 years old and have been married for three years. I am a cancer survivor!! In 2005 I found out I had cancer. It has been a rough couple of years, but cooking takes my mind off of the bad things. The picture I submitted was taken during a rough time, it was while I was going through chemo and radiation. People would tell me that I needed to rest. But I wanted to get into my kitchen and prepare meals for my friends and family. It is what I love to do.
My favorite things to cook
Appetizers, finger foods. I love inviting friends over and loading my kitchen up with all kinds of mini sandwiches, meatballs, dips. I usually have 5 crockpots going at once, each one with a warm dip or appetizer of some kind.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I have friends over for parties or the holidays, I always let my husband cook the meat, either on the grill or in the oven. I enjoy preparing the side dishes and the appetizers.
My cooking triumphs
I have tried so many wonderful recipes from this site. I have finally found so many perfect dishes that I will continue to make from now on. I learn so much from the reviews from other cooks. It really helps to know that you are not the only one that makes mistakes sometimes!!!
My cooking tragedies
Uh, well....there have been many! I will never forget the time I tried to bake a banana pudding! And just the other day I left the cream cheese out of cream cheese bars! Let's just say my garbage disposal never goes hungry!!!

Cabbage Rolls II
Having made many different cabbage roll recipes, this one was not a fave for me. It was the sauce. I am not sure which ingredient didn't taste right for me. Regardless, the recipe should call for the sauce to be mixed in with the beef mixture instead of just being poured on top, to avoid dryness. I always mix my beef with the sauce to roll, then pour the remainder of the beef mixture and sauce on top of all.

Seasoned Oyster Crackers
I really like this combo of seasonings, especially with the addition of some red pepper flakes. I will try these again sometime and bake them. I am sure they are good either way. Thank you!

Chili Cheese Snacks
These are quite tasty. I think a few additional spices could be used, even jalapenos would be good in this recipe. Remember to slice these thin. I had a problem with them being very gooey and sticky while trying to slice them. A reviewer below has a great idea about putting them in the fridge a day ahead to make slicing easier. Also, that would allow the flavors to hang out a little longer and really be good. I will make these again for sure!
