i've been married to my high school sweetheart for 21 years. We have 2 daughters, the oldest has left us for college. The younger is in her second year of high school. Comfort foods, we are a meat and potatoes family. My hubby is an avid hunter and fisherman so there is no shortage of animal products for me to choose from. My background is from the Netherlands. I really enjoy preparing meals that I learned from my Mom (those are my comfort foods). My first Christmas dinner with all the fixin's. It was the first dinner that I made everything from appetizers to dessert to late snack. Everything was delicious and needless to say everyone had to roll themselves out the door. That was about 10 years ago. I've been hooked ever since. My worst was many years ago before my kids. I was going to make a pot of venison soup. I put the bones in a pot filled with water on the stove and turned it on. I figured it would take a while to boil so went to take a shower. Got out of the shower and got ready for bed (I think you can guess what happened next). I was woken up by my husband coming home from a poker game and a house filled with the worst smelling, charcoal burnt pot. After we got everything aired out and put away we had a good laugh. Funny how he still brings that up ever now and again. I guess he's just trying to keep me on my toes.
