Married 22 years with two sons, 18 and 16. Grew up in Central NJ. Moved to Southern Colorado 14 years ago to be near family and also to enjoy the Pueblo Mexican style cooking of Southern Colorado. I have many interests and my latest is weight lifting. It makes the body feel so good.
My favorite things to cook
Love simple stir fries with fresh vegetables, lean meats with little seasons or sauces. I want to taste the true favor of summer time vegetables.
During the cold months I love to make homemade Breads, Pizza dough's and cookies. Also soups, stews and Pueblo Green Chile. Especially after the annual Chile Harvest in the fall when you can walk downtown Pueblo and smell the chiles from all the Farmer's roasting their chiles over an open flame.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Recreating Polsh family recipes like stuffed cabbage with mashed potatoes with fried salt pork. Or Polish saugage with sourkraut.
My cooking triumphs
It's my sisters birthday. I have no gift to give. Then I found "Awesome Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting". Just happened I had all the ingredents listed. So with a flash of determination I baked up the cake and made the frosting. To my surprise, Carrot Cake was my sisters favorite!
And I received great reviews from all.
My cooking tragedies
My tragedy would have to be Ronald's Beef Carnitas from All Recipes. I left my roast on the kitchen counter to cool a bit. Coming back into the kitchen to find my roast disappeared. Turned out my dog, Jerry, had himself a wonderful meal. Not once but twice Jerry did that to me. I have since learned to place big objects in front of my roast so he can not get to it.
