About this Cook
I'm fairly new to cooking, self-taught, and having pretty good luck so far (at least my boyfriend says it's good, but his mom's food is bland, so who knows?)
My favorite things to cook
Dinner. I'm trying to be a little more healthy, but I LOVE cheesy, creamy, fried things. Not necessarily all at once!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom never really cooked. But she NEVER used potato flakes for mashed potatoes, and neither do I. And, she tells me that my pot roast is like the one her mom used to make, and that makes me feel good.
My cooking triumphs
Fried chicken, fried egg, rum cake, pastichio, potato soup, umm.....
My cooking tragedies
Black rice (or was it purple?)--It never softened up.

Kris' Lentil Sausage Soup
My husband and I both enjoyed this. The only things I did differently was I used 1/2 lb of sausage and 1/2 lb of bacon, because that was what I had, and then I shook a bit of smokey sweet pepper into the soup and a dash of red pepper vinegar. YUMMMMMM and so filling

Banana Crumb Muffins
wow, I've never made anything from scratch and been this happy with the results. DELICIOUS! Definitely make the crumb topping. I have a "sweet mix" that I used instead of cinnamon--it's cinnamon and sugar and vanilla. Other than, followed to a t. So good!

Broccoli and Sausage Cavatelli
This was really good. Light but still flavorful. Made a few changes: used some basil flavored olive oil; added a chicken breast; and, cooked sausage and chicken with onion, garlic, oil, and pepper. Was really good!
