I started learning to cook as a young boy. My first jobs were in restaraunts and by the time I finished High School I was running a kitchen in a family restaraunt. Then I joined the Army, and have been traveling for the last 18 years. Still love to cook, and I enjoy it even more now that I do it for fun. My boys are also learning to cook with Me. They have assisted Me in the kitchen ever since they were 4. Now they are 13, 10, 7 and 4. I mostly grill and prepare meals in the kitchen. Baking frustrates Me and some dishes (fish) seem to be the bane of My existence.
My favorite things to cook
I love a good steak. Teaching My boys the proper cut and cook of different steaks, and also the fact that if a steak is cooked properly, no sauce should need to touch it.
Chicken is a close runner-up with most of My chicken dishes being prepared with boneless, skinless breasts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Still cook the same stuffing that I grew up with at Grandma's. Just wish I could replicate Grandpa's pancakes....but that is not possible. That's what a good wood stove in a farmhouse with an OLD, proper cast iron skillet will get.....not many of those combos around anymore.
My cooking triumphs
The grill. I have never had a complaint from the iron. Ever.
My cooking tragedies
Fish.
Any kind.
If it can't be deep fried, I probably will hand you a barely edible or inedable piece of rubber resembling that bass that sings.
