Apple Cider Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
We will definitely make these again. They were flaky and delicious. The only complaints we have is that they weren't as apple-y as we'd hoped for. Maybe we'll try adding some apple butter next time we make them. I also thought they were ever so slightly dense and may try some baking soda next time.

Mouse's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
Very good and cheesy. I substituted about half the processed cheese with cheddar (I might do even more next time) and increased the noodles to 2c. I will definitely add more noodles next time. I will probably also add sauteed onions.

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

very yummy. I didn't make many changes, just took out 1/4c. butter and put in 1/4c extra sour cream. I would put more cinnamon in next time, maybe into the cake batter too.

Peach Shortcake

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
Excellent! I tried it with whole wheat as well and it was very good. I baked the shortcake as little cakes (12 min at 425) and that worked quite well. I also used home canned peaches (no added sugar) instead of fresh ones and it worked great.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

I followed gormet mommy's advice but added 2 1/4 c of sugar instead of 1 3/4c. I thought the result was great. I also did the crust with whole wheat flower and 10T of butter (rather than 12) and it turned out great as well.

Parmesan Herb Bread

This is one of the easiest bread recipes I've come across! No need to knead and yet it's still delicious!

Fresh Strawberry Pie I

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2008
We enjoyed this a lot! I made a bunch of changes though. I made a mix of cream cheese, lime juice, and powdered sugar to layer the bottom with, which was excellent. I also topped it with a cool whip/sour cream mix and roasted almond slices. I wished I would've cut the sugar, but I forgot. My pie had too many flavors. I might leave the jello part out next time. I'm not sure.

Kendra's Creamy Leek Dip

Reviewed: May 18, 2008
My husband LOVED this. I made a couple changes. First, it was way too much for a first taste, so I did a 6th of the recipe, which was a very manageable amount - made about 1 cup or a little more. I also added some sour cream (maybe 1/2 cup?) to make it a little less thick. I did the bacon, but I don't think it changed the flavor all that much. I'd probably leave it out next time, just to save time and money.

Rachel's Cream Cheese Fruit Salad

I mainly used the sauce part and thought it was yummy, but a lot like frosting, so I added 8oz. of strawberry yogurt frosting. that was a little better. but it was all delicious anyway!

Microwave Caramel Popcorn

It was really yummy. The only downside, I thought, was that it was really chewy and got stuck in my teeth a lot. I'm not sure what a good solution is to that problem.

Out-on-the-Range Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2008
i made this recipe with a few fun changes: applesauce for the shortening (= amounts), 2c. brown sugar and no white sugar, and added some (1/2 c.?) dark chocolate cocoa powder. I had to add extra oats and flour to get them thick enough. I also only baked them 10 min. They tasted really great! soft and moist. Similar to no bake cookies, but not as sweet. Next time, I'll probably add less sugar. I may forego the cocoa powder and/or the chocolate chips to get a more subtle flavored cookie.

Plain. I've definitely had bread recipes that were more enjoyable. This wasn't bad, just not exciting. I won't make it again.

These cookies were hard to roll out (sticky) and the flavor was bland. Nothing exciting. Maybe even a little less than that. I'll look for a new recipe.

Pecan Pie V

Great pie! It has a creamier texture in the middle than the usual pies and I didn't have any trouble with the insides being leaky, which I sometimes do with the usual recipe.

Creamy Spinach Tortellini

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2007
My husband REALLY liked this. I thought it was good. I did 3/4 c. milk and a little less than a full pkg of 1/3 fat cr. cheese. I also used diced tomatoes and thought they were a yummy addition, though I'd been skeptical. This dish REQUIRES garlic - don't forget it when you saute the onions! I also sauted the mushrooms and some green pepper with the onions and garlic. Very nice.

I doubled it and dropped an egg. They were really delicious, but seemed too buttery. Next time, I'll probably try with a bit less butter.

Crackle Top Molasses Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2007
MMMM! I'll definitely make these again. I followed some previous recommendations and did 1/2 brown and 1/2 white sugar, as well as 1/2 whole wheat and 1/2 all purpose flour (plus adding a little extra whole wheat when i thought it was too wet). I used canola oil for the unsaturated fats. I baked 8 min. They were SUPER delicious!

Banana Crunch Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2007
We loved it! I used all brown sugar as was recommended and only 1/2 cup oats in the topping. Also put it in a 9x9 pan, which was perfect - I wouldn't go larger than that. It was moist and tasty. The topping made it. Without that, it would just taste like extra moist banana bread.

Concord Grape Pie III

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
I don't think it's the recipe's fault, but this pie was not loved. the skins add flavor and color but are not fun to chew on. The pie is pretty sour. It also takes a TON of time (took me 1.5 hrs) to get the seeds out (I didn't have cheese cloth). If I make another grape pie, I'll definitely mix it with something else (apple?) to tone down the flavor.
