Recently retired and my wife kindly handed over the responsibility of cooking, probably to keep me a little busy. As a beginner, I've been excited to try new tastes and recipes and experimented with a slow cooker because we travel a fair bit. At home I love using the oven and have only recently bought a wok. The kids had a list of 30 favourite meals stuck on the fridge and anytime we were short on ideas for what to cook, there was great fun in deciding which one it was going to be. There are always half a dozen recipes you grow up with as a family and some of these have turned out beautifully. Lamb Shanks are my altime favourite and a dish I call orange chicken legs, would run second. The orange part is actually tomato sauce. My first important dish was made with cherries over a piece of beef and although it sounded nice, my cooking skills did it no justice. Fortunately for me, my wife graciously ate it. I've now thrown the recipe out.
