Smoked Paprika Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2011
Wow, Super easy to make and very good! Can't beat that combo. I'm trying to move away from store bought dressing, because it's expensive, full of weird ingredients, and half the time I don't like it and am stuck with a whole bottle. This was a great recipe to try out, for someone who is new to making dressing. I love that it only took up one dish too! When I first looked at it I thought "that's a lot of ingredients, I don't know if I want to bother" but then I realized I actually had all of that stuff already on hand, so I went for it. So glad I did!

Good Old Meat Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2010
This was excellent! I used ground beef rather than left over beef and added more salt/garlic powder as needed. I also added some cayenne pepper for a kick and a small bunch of fresh parsley. I used a frozen crust from Trader Joes to save on time. This was very very good and I will be making it again for sure. This is very easy to customize depending on what you have on hand in the fridge. Thank you for posting it!

Baby Back Ribs

This was exactly what I was looking for. I really just needed to know how long to cook the ribs & at what temp, since I already knew what sauce I was going to put on them. This may have seemed like a no brainer recipe, but it is exactly what I wanted. Thank you very much for posting it!

This is simple, quick, and tasty. Some nights, that is all I want out of life! lol I've tried different sort of things to spice this up a bit since it's a little plain on its own.

Paul's Pumpkin Bars

These are great. I have made them with full baking soda and with half, with full it turns out like muffiny and with half more like pumpkin pie. Wonderful either way. This is my go to pumpkin bar recipe.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2010
This is THE BEST muffin recipe. I use this batter for every kid of muffin I make. I have put everything in these- apples, choc/white choc chips, berries, cinnamon... They always come out wonderful. I always at least double the recipe. These are wonderful, and I dont even bother trying other recipes anymore. Side Note- I skip the topping because i'm lazy, and find the muffin to be so flavorful that i dont need it anyways.

Key Lime Cheesecakes with Raspberry Swirls

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2010
I enjoyed this recipe, but found it to be a little pricey to put together. Tip- Do not over cook! The tops will cave in if you cook these too long. I made these in regular sized muffin tins. I was really picky about my short bread, i only wanted "real" short bread (butter, flour, sugar) not Pecan Sandies with all the weird ingredients. This is what drove up the price of this recipe I think. Sandies would have been much cheaper. Anyways- took me 3 tries to get the cooking time on this one right. In regular muffin tins it took right about 18 Minutes. Good luck!

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
this was awesome. I love this honey mustard. I made way more than the recipe called for and I used it on sandwiches all week. I marinated the chicken in this for maybe an hour first, and then cooked it on the stove. Easy, cheap, and yummy. I will be making this again.

Naan

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
This was awesome! Very time consuming, but totally worth it. I used this with Sean's Falafel recipe and it was fantastic. Since the falafel had a garlic sauce already I just left the garlic out of the bread. I thought the taste and texture of this was much closer to Greek pita bread than Indian Naan bread, but that is okay because it was excellent either way. TIP: If you want to use these as Pita or wraps, make sure you make the balls of dough bigger than a golf ball- other wise it comes out much too small to wrap anything up in. Thanks for the awesome recipe!

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
This was excellent. I used the top rated Naan recipe off here for the pita bread- a lot of work but really made the falafel perfect! I made several changes based on what I had available. 1) no mayo in the sauce- didnt see the need for it. 2) used minced garlic rather than dill-i dont like dill. 3) use Italian bread crumbs because thats all I had 4) used dried parsley 5) didn't put this in a blender- just minced onion 6) used two eggs to help it hold together 7) used baking soda, not baking powder- because i saw a review about an explosive chemical reaction between oil and baking powder- it scared me lol. I kept all of the spices the same, so i think this tasted pretty closet to the original. I will be making this again for sure. The addition of homemade Naan bread really made this special rather than just quick and easy. Thank you so much for the wonderful recipe!!

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2009
yum! this was very good but too spicy for my tastes. I added a bit of salt, but otherwise followed the recipe as written. This was easy to make, but time consuming because you have to let it boil for so long, but to me it was worth the wait. Next time I make this I will for sure use less hot pepper though, I wanted to eat more but my mouth was on fire! For me, the sausage adds enough heat on its own, I won't add any other hot ingredients next time.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
Hands down, this is the best cookie recipe i've ever made. I used it to make a cookie cake. I cut the amount of chips in 1/2, because I like to taste more cookie than chips, and added about 1 cup of chopped pecans. Then I rolled the whole thing out into a big circle, and with a sharp knife i cut a heart shape out. I used the scraps for regular shaped cookies, and made a cookie cake out of the heart. I baked it on parchment paper and it came out so beautiful. This was very moist and chewy even 3 days after it was baked. This is the BEST cookie batter in the world, and I use it for everything. I've put just about everything in this (nuts, chips, peanut brittle, oat meal..) and it is always fantastic.

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
Hmm.. These were just okay. I guess I fall into the group of people who thought that these were a bit bland. They were very beautiful, but just didn't taste like much. I only kneaded these about 5-6 times, not 20, that would have been way too many. That is why some peoples have come out so dense. I also used 1/4 butter 1/4 shortening. This wasn't a big enough kick for flavor. These need some salt for sure. I ended up having to brush the tops of these with lots and lots of butter to make up for the flavor. It's too bad, because I made these to show an English friend what "real American biscuits" are, and I sort of feel like I should have just bought some Grands.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2008
I am just finishing up baking these, and they are very tasty! They have a spicy sweet flavor. I followed the recipe almost to a T, here are the few slight changes I made: 1) I added a dash of dried ground orange peel 2) I didn't have any cloves, and don't really enjoy their flavor, so I replaced them with nutmeg 3)I used butter rather than margarine 4) I didn't roll them in sugar The flavor of these is very nice, not too sweet not too spicy. They are very festive for fall/winter and will go great with some apple cider! The only thing that was bad about this cookie was how hard to handle the dough is. I put it in the freezer for about 30min and it was still very very sticky and hard to work with. I had to flour my hands between every cookie ball. I also found it unnecessary to press the cookie balls down because they spread a lot while cooking. Next time I make this I may add a pinch more baking soda so that they don't end up so flat.

Simple Whole Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
I just got done eating this for dinner, and it was great. I used totally different seasonings, but followed the cooking method to a T. I was looking for a way to bake a chicken and have it come out juicy, and this really did the trick. We baked it breast down for the entire time and then flipped it and cooked it breast up for another 5-10min to crisp up the skin, and it worked out great. This will be how I bake chickens from now on.

Hot Crab Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
this was a good base, but I just don't think canned crab meat is for me. I bought canned "lump crab meat" and I got the name brand kind, just because I thought it would be tastier, and it was just too fishy and sort of had a fishy smell to it. It also was canned with water, so it had like a squishy water texture going on... it was odd. Maybe I bought the wrong kind of crab? I know it wasn't expired... I think if I used fresh crab meat this would have been awesome, because the cream cheese base was very good. I'll have to give it another try.
