Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
This was a terrific recipe .... and I made it exactly as written except for adding 4 ounces of Velveeta cheese... just a personal thing for me when it comes to potato soup. But it was equally good without it! You could easily add carrots, broccoli or cauliflower to make it into a chowder. Thanks for the great recipe, Ellie!

Meatball Grinders with a Yummy Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
I was a bit apprehensive about adding apple jelly but decided to live dangerously and go for it !! I am so glad that I did.... These were delicious. The only advice I would give on this would be to add the apple jelly a little at a time until you like the sweetness of the sauce. I probably only used about 8 ounces. Thanks Krystalk for the good recipe.

Yellow Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
Just as I was collection my ingredients for this, I realized I did not have "round buttery crackers". So, I used mini Ritz cheese filled crackers. Turned out just great. The suggestion to put the crumb topping on halfway through the baking time was right on also. Thanks Rosecart for a good way to use those summer crook neck squash.

Cream Corn Like No Other

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
This recipe is a real "keeper". Thank you, Diana for this wonderful recipe. I did leave out the parmesan cheese, though, and reduced the amount of milk since we prefer the creamed corn to be on the thicker side.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2009
Read all the reviews and helpful hints... combined what I thought were the best of the best... and voila... wonderful, tender pulled pork which easily tasted just like my favorite restaurant. I didn't have a can of beef broth, so I used Lipton's Beefy Onion Soup Mix and one cup of water. I used a 2 pound pork shoulder roast which I sliced into 1" thick slabs. and cooked them on my crock pot's high setting. After five hours it was very tender. All I had to do was shredd the meat and add barbecue sauce. I used Sweet Baby Rays which is dee-licous.

Asiago Hash Browns

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
We felt this was a pretty bland recipe even with the addition of asiago cheese flavoring it. I then tried it with the suggestion another reviewer shared... I used onion chip dip instead of the sour cream. It was still on the bland side.. so maybe I'm just not a hash brown casserole person.

Grandma's Sweet Slaw

Reviewed: May 22, 2009
Normally, I like coleslaw almost any way you can fix it. But.... this was over the top way too sweet. All you taste is sugar. I even tried to modify it a little to get away from the sugary taste, but nothing helped it. It was edible , but barely. I won't be making it this way again.

Roasted Easter Ham

This was real-l-l-ly tasty ! I did decrease the mustard to 1/4 just out of personal preference but left the rest of the recipe intact. This one's a keeper for sure.

Spinach Cheese Tortellini

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
My husband said this tasted good. But it wasn't especially visually appealing... it's kind of a dirty brown because of the mushrooms. The next time I make it, I will leave the mushrooms out.

Croutons

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2009
I also use a bit of onion powder or onion salt with these. Then, if I want to stuff a chicken breast or pork chop, I just use my homemade croutons and prepare like I would for stuffing. Fast and easy !

This recipe was so very easy to make... I did add a little extra time to roast them but other than that, I followed the recipe exactly. Thanks Rosemary for a very tasty snack recipe !

Cocktail Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
These were really tasty. I made the meatballs as stated in the recipe but added a little salt and pepper to them. When making the sauce, I used an entire 16 ounce can of cranberry sauce. These were good the day I made them, but I think even tastier the next day reheated. It was as though the flavors had time to develope more. All in all a very good recipe that I will make again.

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
Like the other reviewers, this was way too much glaze.... and I had an 8 pound ham. Half the recipe would have been enough. I used honey, brown sugar, and butter... no cloves, they aren't my favorite spice unless I'm eating a cookie ! The glaze was thick and easily stayed on the ham everywhere I basted it. And the folks that said to line the pan were so correct... this glaze sets up in the pan very hard. The glaze had a really nice taste and made a perfect presentation of my ham. I will used this recipe over and over again.

Butternut Squash Soup II

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2008
I made this a little easier by using one 12ounce package of frozen butternut squash. Having an immersion blender made the vegetables into puree very easy. It was a good soup but not extremely rich in flavor.
