Happy Birthday Stephen
One happy husband
Our DC
Our son Stephen (B'day) and wife DeDe. It was delicious!
About this Cook
I am retired from the Florida Univ. system. Began substituting teaching about 6 years ago. My husband started cooking! He is great at it. But I am taking it back for awhile. I LOVE this website. Use it at least 3x per week if not more. Live in the country in Gilchrist County, Fl
My favorite things to cook
I do NOT like to make pudding. I always scorch the pan. But otherwise I like to try anything! Special for me is Asian quisine. My husband likes anything down home and country...and if it has gravy all the better. So I have to be creative with my healthy eating and his delicious eating.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Probably Christmas Eve. For 20 years we have had our 7 combined children, 15 grandchildren, and 8 greatgrandchildren over for food and celebrating Christmas. The "girls" bring something but I always do something tried and true, and create one or two new dishes.
My cooking triumphs
I don't know! I just made the blueberry poundcake II yesterday and it was incredible! My husband doesn't like blueberries but he loved that cake! Also some delicious chicken dishes. And fish. But my husband and sons like "meat and potatoes" so I get creative with those too.
My cooking tragedies
Scorching pudding, burning something because I get busy doing something else, not making enough. Nothing horrible I guess. When I was about 8 I loved to cook, my Mom didn't. So I got to do most of it. Once I made mashed potatoes and for "appearance" put blue food coloring it them. My Dad (I was his only girl) made my 2 brothers eat them!!! I have to admit they must have looked pretty awful with gravy on them.

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III
I tried! Had some sour cream almost out of date so looking for a recipe for something easy, found this. Sorry, it was very dense for some reason. Did it in an 8x8 pan (there are 2 of us) and it really got dark around the edges before the center was done. It does taste great! Just not moist and fluffy like we love in a coffee cake.

Stuffed Cabbage Rolls
Thank you!!! My Mom used to make this for us as kids (I am a grandmother now), but I never wrote down a recipe. Every other recipe never included the brown sugar and yours did. My son asked for this, he remembered it as a child going to my Mom's house for dinner. It was delicious and he loved it. Said" this is it Mom!"

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole
This was absolutely delicous!!!! I was SO tired of the "green bean casserole" and tried this for Easter. It won everybody over. Thank you, I will fix it many, many times until someone gets tired of it (never?) Thanks again
