About this Cook
I have many hobbies to fill up my spare time, but one of my favorites (most the time) is cooking. I like trying new things. Occasionally I'll repeat a recipe I like, but for some reason I can never make it as well the second time.
My favorite things to cook
Anything Asian. And steak... because I was so bad for so long but I finally got the hang of it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Eating dinner together every night. All 8 of us.
My cooking triumphs
I made an Asian beef tenderloin once that my husband said was the best thing he'd ever eaten. I also attempted to make a chorizo sausage pasta that I'd had a restaurant and my family loved it.
My cooking tragedies
I once tried to bake a cake with pudding layers in it. I poured the cake mix in the cake pan and then butterscotch pudding over it. Needless to say it was in the oven for an hour and a half and still looked like something a sick dog would have left on the floor. It was good with vanilla ice cream though.

Persimmon Pudding
Once you've found the persimmons, this recipe is super easy and has delicious results! I make it year after year as soon as I find the main ingredient in the grocery store. The finished product is very similar to bread pudding.

Asian Coconut Rice
My husband said I should always make rice this way from now on. I don't know about that but it was very good with the Basil Shrimp Kabobs from this site.

Chilled Cantaloupe Soup
This was also delicious the next day as a smoothie. This recipe could also be made as a punch and would be good with brandy or vodka mixed in.
