I am married (18 years)to one of those "beautiful people"... you know the ones people always give a second glance. We have two kids (one of each), 2 dogs and a cat. Living along the bayou in Southern Louisiana, I know I am blessed and am thankful.
My favorite things to cook
I bake when I am stressed.
I love to cook breakfast food for dinner.
Mostly, I just get in the kitchen, turn on the stove and cook; seldomly with reason other than the family is hungry.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holidays are the best. For Thx and Christmas, my husband's family smokes a turkey on a smoker or in a roasting pit. We "camp out" all night and pour almost as much wine over the turkey as we do down our throats as it slowly cooks. It's a great time for all to share and catch up and the results are heavenly.
My cooking triumphs
When stressed, I bake up a storm. I always bring the results to work cuz calories are best when shared. There have actually been arguements when somebody eats the last one/piece of something. Kind of heartwarming in a strange and twisted way, you know?
My cooking tragedies
In a hurry one time, I grabbed the wrong canister and used powdered sugar to make my roux... "sweet" gumbo is not a favorite, no matter where you live!
