Growing up my mother had several never-fail dishes, and didn't bother to try much that she hadn't cooked before. I have turned into quite the opposite, always mixing together and creating new recipes. Breads are some of the most fun things to bake because the yeast makes the experience more thrilling. I also enjoy asian-inspired dishes, such as curries and stir-fries. We have an apple tree and go huckleberry picking every summer, so there is an abundance of fruit pies in our house. My grandmothers both had family-famous bread recipes, so we keep those around for celebratory occassions.
