About this Cook
I own a business that cares for the elderly so I do meal preparation for them and I also cook to unwind. I also love to cook for people...feeding someone a great meal is definitely one way to show them love. I also love to read, shop, and hang out with friends.
My favorite things to cook
chocolate chip cookies, chicken piccata, mac n cheese, rock bottom cupcakes, shrimp on the grill, soup
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother's homemade butterscotch pie, caramel corn, and cream cheese cookies. Every year she made all these goodies and brought them to her friends & family. She passed away last summer so I have taken over the tradition, and I find just as much joy in it as she did.
My cooking triumphs
Pulling together a large, spectacular meal for my fiance's family!!!
My cooking tragedies
cream puffs.....or cream pucks, as my dad called them...

Slow-Cooked Chili
This is the perfect basic chili recipe. I've used ground beef for this but I've also substituted cannellini beans or additional kidney beans for the meat and the flavor is just as good. I also like to add some Asian chili sauce (the kind you see in a lot of Thai restaurants with the clear squeeze bottle with the green cap). That adds a bit more heat and a unique flavor. Great recipe!

Broccoli Cheese Soup V
This recipe was so quick and easy! I made it on a snowy day and it was so warm and filling. I did have to mix flour and water as a thickener and add about a cup of that to the finished soup to make it thicker (I like it better that way). It worked, so if you like thicker soup, try that!
