About this Cook
I'm a SAHM who loves baking and cooking. Baking more than anything. I stay home with my 3 year old daughter, have a wonderful husband I've been married to for over seven years and we're expecting our son in January of 2008.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake cakes but my passion is cheesecake. I also love to try new things, like making ice cream from time to time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas I love to have breakfast ready for the family to come over to our house in the morning. Usually I like to make cinnamon rolls (homemade), coffee and one year I tried a type of egg/bacon quiche which worked out so well I will be doing it again this year.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I made a recipe for cookies and cream ice cream. The best part was not using the heavy cream it required and using whipped cream instead. It came out great along with crushing the cookies barely so in every bite you got a good amount of cookie. (oreo)
My cooking tragedies
When I was in my early 20's and tried to make flan for the first time. I didn't pay close attention to the recipe. Along with not really looking into how to make it different ways. I nearly burned the house, or the time I made sweet potato pie, forgot about it and caught the oven on fire. Not good. Chared marshmallows. eeeewww.

Caramel-Glazed Flan
I made this exactly as the recipe requires and it turned out great. The only thing is when taking it out of the fridge; it might be a good idea to put it in warm water before turning over. To make sure the caramel is not hard. Other than that one addition it was great. Whoever said the caramel was watery did not know what they were talking about it was at perfect consistency as well as the flan itself that needed to sit out to set as with any flan before being refrigerated. This is a great recipe for anyone even first timers.
