About this Cook
After being in the Air Force for 14 years, I have settled in Virginia since 1995. Im currently working as a pharmacy technician. I have three boys ages 16, 23 and 27. I have one beautiful, healthy grandchild. I am enjoying this site, learning new techniques, new recipes and listening to all of your wonderful suggestions and ideas.
My favorite things to cook
During this stage of my life, which is a quiet single life, I am most interested in comfort food. I work long hours and value my slow-cooker. I am interested in eating foods that are better for me...more vegetables and much less junk food
My favorite family cooking traditions
Im trying to build new ones
My cooking triumphs
Cooking foods that make my boys smile and ask for more. My middle son wants to be a chef. I enjoy it when he asks ME for a recipe.
My cooking tragedies
There have been many and I'm sure, more to come, but thankfully, much less frequent.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
So few ingredients, so easy...I did not know if I would like it. I was wrong because it was soooo good. I used chicken broth instead of water, and a few more spices like cumin and poultry seasoning. Instead of the biscuit dough, I used frozen dumplings (Anne's brand) during the last 30-45 minutes of cooking. This is a wonderful and comforting dish to come home to after a long day at work.

Chipotle Crusted Pork Tenderloin
I absolutely LOVE this!! I did not have the chipotle so I subbed a cajun mix. The first time I made it, I baked it and the second time, I put it in the slow cooker. Both times it was very tasty and moist. I prefer the oven method over slow cooking only due to the consistancy of the cooked meat.

Sour Cream Biscuits
Very good! I cut the ingredients in half as it's just me and my son. I DID NOT roll them out, instead patted them into 9 circles and baked them as indicated. Really good and easy.
