My favorite family cooking traditions
I am half Slovenian and I am very intruiged with ethnic cooking. I am still trying to master Potica. Once I do I will submit my recipe. I hope to be able to make it as good as my grandfather's. Potica is included at every family gathering on both side of my family (both of my parents are half Slovenian).
My cooking triumphs
I once made a tiramisu cheesecake with an improvised recipe and even amazed myself.
My cooking tragedies
Chocolate torte. It was a crumbly mess that I will probably never attempt again.

Grocery Store Frosting
I am a frosting person. Finding this recipe excited me. . . I am so sick of butter cream! I've used it twice now. The main thing that I learned the first time: CUT DOWN ON THE VANILLA. Also, it tastes better the next day. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. It was fantastic on sugar cookies.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style
This is infinitely better than I expected it to be. I can't believe that I made it! I've never cooked a whole chicken before (I wasted more than a decade as a vegetarian). It is perfect and so juicy. I do suggest using a thermometer, not just timing 5 hours. I can't imagine what would have happened if I kept it in that long! My birds were done in 2 hours. Also, I don't have a roasting pan, so I cooked them on cooling racks over casseroles. Crispy skin on all sides!

Slow Cooker Pepper Steak
This is just not good. It tastes like nothing but tomatoes and is very flavorless otherwise. On top of that, the texture is terrible. I had my doubts about this recipes upon reading it, but was reassured by the overall positive reviews. I should have trusted my own judgement!
