About this Cook
I just love to cook. And bake. I enjoy doing the food for all of our family holidays, as my Grandma is no longer with us, I'm honored to take the reigns, and I'm getting pretty good at it!
My favorite things to cook
Anything new. I love to try different cuisines, and have been trying my hand at asian food most recently. I love to bake. That is what I do best, and my family loves for me to make my apple pie or french silk. I love to make anything from my basic yummy italian sandwiches to fancier more involved stuff.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Grandma always made everyone's favorite all the time. If you had a weird craving you asked Grandma if you could come over for dinner, which everyone did anyway, and request exactly what you want before you arrive. I want to be that member of the family now that she's gone, the person who can comfort food everyone all better!
My cooking triumphs
The first time I mastered the apple pie. My first one I had trouble with the crust, then I had a soupy pie. But then on my third pie it was perfect. This is something that my family is fighting to get my recipe for, as I have my own not copied from anywhere...my sister in law swears since I won't tell her the recipe needs to go into my will!
My cooking tragedies
Too many to list! I've def had things that come out less then desireable, but I always get it eventually. I'm not that great a making gravies, that's probably my one constant challenge.

Kickin' Collard Greens
These we amazing! So delish. An hour is sufficient but the longer you cook these the better. I just used left over bacon grease, which I always keep around and I used a few tablespoons. I too added a bit of brown sugar which I think did a great job of balancing the greasiness and the spice from the red pepper flakes, all the flavors worked perfectly together.

Shepherd's Pie
Really yummy easy weeknight meal. Though the ketchup sounded weird but added it anyway and it was fine. Used mixed veggies with peas, carrots, and green beans. Also made homemade garlic mashed potatoes (just boiled the garlic with the potatoes and drain and beat when soft). This was yummy and fast.

Clone of a Cinnabon
My dad made these after I found him the recipe and they were delish...wouldn't change a thing. We did it without a bread machine the way another user explained how to do, and it worked out great.
