About this Cook
I have been cooking since the age of 6. My first meal was a scrambled egg with probably a half stick of butter. My uncle is probably the single most person responsible for my love of cooking by the encouragement (and lies he told) he gave me about how delicious my cooking was. Thanks Uncle John!!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking everything from cookies to pies to gourmet cakes. I also decorate cookies and cakes. I try not to eat out so much so I do a lot of slow cooker meals. I also enjoy cooking southern meals with everything smothered.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Large Thanksgiving family meals. The children always remain in the kitchen as the mom cooks and eventually involves the children in the process.
My cooking triumphs
Herb roasted Prime Rib.
My cooking tragedies
Potato salad. Still working on it.

Fluffy Pancakes
OMG! Light and fluffy is an understatement. The vinegar and soda combination makes them different from all other recipes for two reasons: 1. That combo makes them rise way more than normal and 2. It gives them a buttermilk taste. I used egg whites only in my previous recipe where I had to beat the whites first. No need for all that extra work with this recipe. This is now a family favorite!!

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies
Great recipe as is. I would not change a thing. Here's the key: Always use a silicone baking mat and your cookies will never stick!!

Zucchini Cobbler
The key is to cut the circle of seeds out of the middle before using. I took this to a community garden potluck and all of my colleagues requested this recipe. You could not tell that the apple taste was actually zucchini. This is a keeper. I will now experiment with a different crumb topping.
