About this Cook
I'm a working mom & wife to two wonderful boys (that's my husband and 8 yr old son!) :) I'm enjoying cooking more and more, especially since I ran across this site!
My favorite things to cook
I first really got into the kitchen when I took a cake decorating class and I have since gotten more and more experimental (and braver)! I really enjoy making desserts, mainly because my husband is very picky about main dish meals. But I'm starting to through in a few new dishes! He's good about trying them, and then being my own personal food critic! :) It actually help out for next time!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family doesn't really have an cooking traditions. But we definitely have our favorites, especially for Christmas. For example, Cream Puff Cake, carmel corn & pumpkin rolls! Can you tell we like our desserts! :)
My cooking triumphs
One of my biggest cooking triumph is baking and decorating a 3-layered wedding cake for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. Everyone thought a professional made it! It was totally gone by the end of the evening! And then recently my husband and I did a wedding BBQ for 300 people (that's a lot of meat!). We did tri-tip, chicken breast and pork tender-loin on my husband's trailer BBQ. Everyone wanted our business catering cards! Maybe we should start our own business!! :)
My cooking tragedies
I just cook what looks and sounds good. If there is a long list of ingredience that I don't normally stock in my kitchen, I probably won't make it. But no major tragedies!

Fresh California Salsa
This is exactly like my recipe except I use about 6-8 tomatoes and a whole sweet onion. I put it in my cruiseart blender and it comes out perfect. Great way to use up summer garden tomatoes!!

Chocolate Gravy I
I use milk and corn starch instead of water and flour. Makes it creamier and thicker....

Blackberry Cobbler II
Will make again! I just added a little Cinnamon Plus (from Pampered Chef) to the dough. And I used a mix of blackberries and marionberries, and before it finished I added a few blueberries--just to get enough. And this is the first time I have made a dessert in my cast iron, great! But you definitely have to make homemade ice cream to go on top! Thanks!
