About this Cook
I am 50+, my hubby and I have 5 grown children and 2 grandchildren, I love cooking for my family and friends, and I am a member of a cooking forum that is the best part of my day...thequalitycook.phpbbnow.com and we are always looking for new members!
My favorite things to cook
Desserts are my favorite....especially pies. I enjoy bread making when I have the time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When the kids come home to visit they all expect their favorites. When they all come home at the same time it gets pretty hectic, but we laugh alot. I love it!
My cooking triumphs
I found out I can produce a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner for 15 people completely solo, using a stove that only has 2 burners and an oven! And received huge raves from everyone afterward....that made me feel like a million bucks!
My cooking tragedies
Early in my cooking experience I found out the hard way you should not use Corning Ware on top of a gas stove; I found out the hard way there is a difference between all-purpose and self-rising flour; I STILL cannot master potato salad unless someone likes "mashed potato salad".

Easy OREO Truffles
A friend of mine gave these in my Christmas goodie bag this year, but she used white chocolate as the coating instead of regular and they were not only beautiful but delicious as well.

Gingerbread Pear Cake
I loved this recipe! It was SO easy and delicious. I chopped the pecans so it didn't look as beautiful as Cheepchick's photo, but it disappeared so quickly, no one even noticed. I wouldn't change a thing about this recipe! Thanks Mallinda!!!!

Angel Hair Pasta Chicken
I loved this recipe. Added a bit of salt and pepper, maybe a little more olive oil than called for, but otherwise thought it was excellent. I'll make it again. Sad that others rate it "bland"...do they not have any common sense to add a bit of salt?
